Why is god withholding the information you would otherwise have access to if you eat from the fruit though? The knowledge of good and evil refers to the knowledge of everything, all the interconnectedness of being - why doesn't god want us knowing so much? Is he afraid we'll challenge his authority?

Srsly though the only reason I didn't learn it from sex ed is cause I learned it from an older kid who went to sex ed when I was 5. My sex ed was in 5th grade. So they still taught me about it before I had sex and yet sometimes I still chance it and go raw if I'm in a relationship.

It's just like addiction. I had all the information in the world that drugs and alcohol are bad before I ever tried them. My dad was in 12 step programs. But no matter how much you're warned against it the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is mighty tempting.

I don't care.

American sex ed is undermined by abstinence only propaganda and discourages practice in safe sex. Same **** as the D.A.R.E. nonsense driving kids toward unreliable drug use with its absolutist methods.

according to the Philip k dick brand of gnosticism, god is an evil tyrant who is under an even bigger God.

Either way, that is just how it is. Why did god make smoking crack feel so good if it's actually bad for you? Etc

where is it exactly that poor people in America don't know that condoms help prevent pregnancy and STDs? I went to school in Florida and they taught us about safe sec but also said the ideal is abstinence.

In my middle class upbringing not using a condom was for retards and having a kid before you graduated from college made you a subhuman peasant to be sneered at. The classist lesson stuck for my peer group.

My point was that American sex ed is undermined by abstinence only propaganda which has the result of discouraging practice in safe sex.

I don't necessarily disagree in principle that sex ed can be improved I'm saying I doubt it would make that big of a difference.

I wonder if the post proposing better sex ed includes other solutions to be done in tandem in order to truly solve the issue at hand.

In my experience people in "the under classes" don't really appreciate safe sex in the same way cause it's lame or something but the middle and upper classes are scared of unplanned pregnancy cause it's a career derailment. So I wouldn't say it's really an education issue as it's a culture issue. People who don't perceive themselves as being on a steady career path probably aren't going to be as scared of that path being derailed.
