Guns and roses - sweet child of mine - Lyrics Meaning

Probably one of the most recognised rock songs of all time heard on every rock channel and used in films and covered by thousands of musicians, it released as their 3rd single in 1987 topping music charts and it was the band's first number one single in the US.

Axel wrote this as a poem to his girlfriend, Erin Everly, who is the daughter of Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. They married in 1990 but divorced a month later inspiring the band to put together sweet child of mine.

The famous rift was made up by slash as what he thought as silly but axle loved it and wanted slash to keep playing.

The song has quite simple understanding, just like a poem he is reading this to someone he loves and reminds him of his youth how she makes him feel and how she helped him become who he his now, in the line "Where do we go now" repeated, he seems to be thinking about the future of them, that there is so much more to learn.

The song continues to be played as a classic rock hit from the 80s that many recognise as being one of the greatest rock songs of all time.
