I'm almost done with White Nights. The translation is very good but I kind of want to learn Russian now.

Yeah, I usually read all of my books in English but I read Dostojevski in Croatian as I figure it's much closer to Russian so there's a much better chance to keep the original feeling and style.

It's so sad to hear we've lost such a brilliant author. Good night and so long Mr. Salinger.

I have to admit, my first reaction upon hear that he'd died was "He was still alive?!?!?!".

The question is: do we mourn the loss, or do we shrug it off, as Holden Caulfield would?

Same here.

^Reading this at the moment. I think I'll finish it in the next 2 minutes. It's been a fun read, nothing too deep, just a more understanding of what that man does. It's mostly more of a relief, to know that he's not that kind of a superhero with incredible ideas or some kind of savant. He's talking about some subject every couple of pages, and it all seems familiar. Not live changing, but reassuring.

Considering he spent most of his life completely detached from the rest of the world he was pretty much absent for decades anyway. And it took at least a couple of days for me to even hear about his death. Still think it's sad, though.

Flags of our Fathers by James Bradley. Pretty boring, at least so far. Required for school.

For recreational reading, I'm taking on Alpha & Omega by Charles Seife. ****ing ace book if you want to add more knowledge to your brain about the beginning and ending(s) of the universe, and everything in between.

Enjoyable, and the way he draws modern India is very interesting. I'm not completely sold on it for some reason.
