I love Stephen King. I've read Carrie, Pet Semetary, and Salem's Lot. All brilliant.

Currently reading the second book in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Awesome.

I used to read a lot of Stephen King when I was in elementary school (his short stories, pet cemetary, Needful things, Carrie, Christine, Cujo and more). Somehow, I find the stories more disturbing now than I did then.

When his novel Desperation came out, I of course got my hands on it, and I thought it was a really brilliant King book back then. It has a wonderfully spooky story which could fit nicely into Lovecraft's Cthulhu universe with very few modifications. Although it's been quite a few years now since I read it, those who like King and who haven't checked it out should consider this a recommendation!

Did you read The Regulators too? It's not quite as good as Desperation but it's very interesting to read the two of them one after the other since they're twin novels or whatever you want to call it.

No, but I've been aware of it's existence. Since my last post, I've thought perhaps I should reread Desperation. If I do, I'm gonna keep and eye out for Regulators as well :)

.. But first I gotta finish War and Peace!

Do you know about the whole connection between those two books? How they're sort of alternate stories based on the same elements that were released at the same time? I love the way the original artwork for the two books, done by Mark Ryden, even fits together like a diptych:

Yeah, Ryden is an amazing artist. His website is totally worth checking out if you like those covers.
