Finally gotten around to a Brandon Sanderson book and I'm impressed as its easy to get into, cuts the fat from the meat compared to other fantasy writers and has a Gene Wolfe influence, but without the complexity of a Gene Wolfe novel, so far recommended.

Gave up on The King in Yellow about halfway through. The first few stories were really good but then it went downhill. All style over substance.

I need a good Sci-Fi. Any suggestions?

I'm with you.
Went downhill pretty fast.
Some stories are just meh, others outright lame.
I'm still strugglingly trying to make it through.

I've recently enjoyed reading "Rendezvous with Rama" and would recommend it. You might already have read it though, seems to be one of the sci-fi classics.

Ya, I've read pretty much of the classics. Rama is great. Numerous people through the years have tried making it into a movie but it always falters for one reason or another. Morgan Freeman was one of them.

I don't read much scifi, but have you read Stand on Zanzibar?

So glad I came across this thread. I go to the library and just kind of stand there and glitch. How do you ever pick?

Any recommendations on non-fiction diaries? Like the Anne Frank Diary?
