Little beach street bakery. I haven't read in a while, a chain of bad books put me off. This one I picked up from Tesco on a whim, thoroughly enjoying it so far.

A nice pulp fiction find at my local dollar store.

I decided to give Finnegans Wake an honest go, read the first page 3 times, ha no, I'd need Humpty Dumpty to walk me through this one. Started reading Crimson China instead, seems alright. Reminds me of The Other Hand

Spoiler for large picture:

Baptism of Fire by Andrzej Sapkowski

The 3rd (4th overall) book in the Witcher series that was written over a decade ago but not translated into English. I started reading this series back in early June and pretty much devoured my way through the other three in the course of about 4-5 weeks before I just randomly saw this one on the shelf at a bookstore. I can't even remember the last time I bought a new book from a store for the purpose of reading at that exact moment and not just to put into my collection.

Ja I've made many attempts to read it, furthest I've gotten was 70 pages. Now I just kind of pick it up and flip to a random page. Reading it aloud helps me get some if the jokes. It's an incredible piece of work but not one that I could sit down and read through the whole thing.

So how is it ? And by "it" I mostly mean the translation - the original was great, but a lot of things can go wrong in translation.
Last time I read it I was 19 or so and I loved it, maybe it's time to come back and re-visit old friends

Yac,
I think you absolutely should because the three previous books I've read have been beautifully written. They're also pumping them out a steady rate since 2007 and would not be surprised if the next book is released in February to coincide with The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt game's release.

Finished this a week ago, I thought I'd jump into HP Lovecraft with this book because of little knowledge of Call of Cthulu. Really exhilarating short story, the hotel portion had me pretty tense throughout.

I'm only a few chapters in this one, Cage always struck me as asexual, but oh god he was quite the opposite. He really was like a kid with his head up in the clouds though from what I've read so far.

Probably one of the more interesting sci-fi works I've read. I'm not exactly finished though, but I'm only a chapter away from finishing it. I really like this book's take on what would possibly happen if an alien civilization were to visit us. We always view aliens as having humanistic qualities, but what if they didn't even take notice to us? This novel poses such ego destroying concepts, dabbles in a bit of xenology, mind bending consequences of the visitation of an alien civilization, and lots of drinking (It was written by Russians, so of course there is nothing but drinking).
