So you've read Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and now Sandman. What's the fourth? And next time you're looking for #5, I'll rec you Hawkeye. If you don't know if you can deal with mainstream superhero comics, but you still think the Avengers movies are cool, then Hawkeye is pretty much perfect. An Avenger not really doing Avengery things with a tongue-in-cheek, down-to-earth storyline and some of the most likeable characters you'll ever find. It's hilarious, it's touching, it's ridiculous, it's real, and the art is phenomenal. And Kate Bishop is like the best thing ever. This was possibly the single comic that dragged me into being a more serious comic fan, and it's still one of the best series I've ever read.

Walking Dead. I'll look into Hawkeye but I was thinking about The Dark Knight Returns.

I've had that sitting on my shelf for forever, but I've just never gotten off my lazy ass and read it (I have seen the animated adaptation though). There's not really any excuse for me to have been that lazy either. It's not too long a comic either, so it won't be a massive time investment.

It's a fairly new release, and I'm just diving in. The book was seven years in the making and just came out in the past few weeks as a follow-up to the greatest law-comic ever published: Bound By Law (Tales From the Public Domain). It was due out years ago, but the untimely and tragic death of illustrator Keith Aoki delayed it, until now.

It's quite a beast - the book traces millennia of musical history over the course of 252 pages. I'm 1/4 of the way through it presently, and it's great stuff.

The intrernet demands pictures. For science.

Oh, I see; I really must get a physical copy, in that case.

That other one looks fascinating too.

Of course; for science. Hrmmmm well I do in fact own at least a couple outfits that Death would wear! (Including, of course, pointy goth boots, my leather jacket and my dead grandmother's giant ankh necklace)

I've been re-reading Simon Reynolds Retromania (which is in and of itself somewhat ironic), and every time I revisit the text I find myself frantically scribbling more and more notes of referenced cultural artifacts I must explore further.

Having already claimed and framed the first-ever issue of WIRED for my room of cyber-and-pirate culture, it seemed only logical that my next act be the securing of a copy of Mondo 2000's A User's Guide to the New Edge: Cyberpunk, Virtual Reality, Wetware, Designer Aphrodisiacs, Artificial Life, Techno-Erotic Paganism, and More!

Promptly ordered a copy. I can't wait to read this!
