Sounds like stuck up book nerds don't like the concept of being told they're not reading.

Audiobooks take forever and you miss at least 25% nodding off or daydreaming. Podcasts FTW
Hey I was just thinking Who’s read Tuck Everlasting? That’s a great ****ing book |

If you already read books just stick with that, but if you don't read much, then definitely **** with some audiobooks. I got my dad to get into reading a couple of years ago by first introducing him to audiobooks then suggesting that he read along to them. Now he reads books by himself like a big boy.

A couple of years ago, I read an Amazon review of an audio version of a book I bought
called Obfuscation. In the audio sample, the guy reading it couldn’t pronounce the title (and, yes, the subject) of the book correctly(!) It was amazing that it hadn’t been stalled at the editor’s desk. I just went back to listen again and it appears to be fixed, but, wow, what a surprise. |
One of the things I like about the book format is that I can read at my own pace, pause to think, and even go back a paragraph and reference an earlier line again. That mode of interaction kinda gets lost with audiobooks. They're more about making it easy to plow through books by having them running in the background while you do other things.

I like to listen to an audio book while I read the book. It's kind of like when you turn perfect balance on for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. You just sail through it.

Gonna crack this one open later this evening...
https://i.ibb.co/hHSzVwJ/BBLGT.jpg It's a tongue-in-cheek homage to lesbian pulp fiction from the 1950's & 60's. |
There used to be entire adult bookshops full of dirty books about raping teenage hitchhikers. Now erotica is mostly geared toward women.

*OH grieves*
