anyways....i did sit there and read a book....called Happy Mutant Baby Pills.....which is very much about heroin addiction and mentions Bill quite a bit

also as i was hanging out with my nephew....he is right now under what could be one of the most wonderful drug mixtures i've never had the pleasure of trying....Dilaudid both intravenous and injected into the cerebrospinal fluid....and 7mg of Ketamine

^Burroughs would be proud
I hope your nephew has a speedy recovery but ffs there is no better setting to read that book

reading it in a children's hospital thinking to myself...."if a staff member asks you what you're read....just fucking lie to them"

so at that i finished Happy Mutant Baby Pills a few days ago....and i have to say i would not call it a waste of time but i would not call it revolutionary either....defiantly a wonderful example of modern transgressive literature

i hate to say it....but not a book for everyone....as in i could not see my mother or sister enjoying this book....especial the latter half of it and anything involving Round Up!

just due to the over the top substance abuse i certainly had an idea of what would happen at the end but was surprised with what ultimately happened to Nora....and i loved Lloyd's "junkie" deception

Miss Donner.....please tell me you have read Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.....if you haven't i highly suggest it....and i'm sure it will seep it's way into your brain at some point.....

When I reviewed it I believe I called it "bizarre just for the sake of being bizarre" but the more I reflect on it the more I realize that I did ultimately enjoy it for its eccentricities. I gave it 2/5 stars and certainly wouldn't put it on my recommendations shelf at the bookstore, but I'm glad to have read it if only for the novelty of the experience.

I haven't read Geek Love but you're not the first person to suggest I do, so I'll move that to the top of my list.

Finished Dubliners, still on a Joyce kick but the beginning of Portrait was not enticing me, so I moved for this. Really digging it, but after knocking out a chapter or two i always have to take a month off.

Also reading Wordsworth and other Romantics for class. Bout to be on Pride and Prejudice, which i hear will be fun.

100 years of solitude. This thread just reminded me I need to read Catch 22, again.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - Agatha Christie
A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
Can't argue with the classics!

People will argue with anything online, but 'Tale of Two Cities' wasn't bad.

I like Charlie's view upon life.
Read a couple of his books, I 'av.

Just finished. A worthy read, but it can't top Great Expectations, IMHO.
Cheers, mate!
