I read the book in high school and wasn't floored by it besides a few great parts. I found it to be a bit pretentious but had aspects of heart and knowledge of what high school can be like for certain kids. In a small way I grew up a lot like Charlie who is the main character of this film. Freshman year I didn't know many people as my friends from middle school started getting into sports and general douchbaggery and I was branching away. Over time I started attaching myself to certain groups of friends and I made a lot from all kinds of cliques but I never was REALLY close with a group until sophomore year. The difference was that my friends are 1-2 years younger than me but we've been best friends ever since and we still are. I also read books on my own in class and was very quiet when I wasn't poked for a response. Anyway, I connected with the film more than the book. The acting was very good from the kids. Ezra Miller is awesome. The kid can do comedy and horror very well as I loved him in We Need To Talk About Kevin. I expected the film to be a sentimental soup like the book was but it balanced it's emotions very well and I was actually choked up by the end. I'm going to probably purchase this because it just made me feel very good. Made me want to go hang with my friends. I think I'll do that.

Steven Soderbourgh seriously loves yellow/orange hue. Almost every shot was dripping in this hazy color and it struck me that his movies look very similar. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but just an observation. I thought this was a serviceable action film mostly based on the fight scenes coming off very realistic. The fight scene between Carano and Fassbender was especially impressive. The script was pretty bland and boring though. It was a film carried by it's direction and action scenes. I didn't really care about any characters or what happened to them at all. Overall not a bad watch.

I ****ing loved that movie. Of course, I'm a connoisseur of the terrible action movie. Yeah, the story was BS, but the action scenes were unique and awesome to watch. The fight scene in the hotel has to be one of my all time favorite action movie scenes. Just gritty, visceral, and amazing. And Gina Carrano is just gorgeous. I love a woman that can tie me into a pretzel.

Star Trek Into Darkness

all i can say is wow!

let me just say that i am not a trekie....i don't own Spock ears, i've never been to a convention, i only own one Star Fleet uniform shirt, (blue for a science officer) and i only know a few choice phrases in Klingon

but i was kind of raised on Star Trek and would honestly say that Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan would easily find it's way on a top ten list of all time favorite movies for me

this movie would also easily fit there also

right from the get go the writers were paying homage to both the original tv series and the wonderful second film from the original franchise....and the entire movie was filled with them....from the splendid scream of "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!!!" to Tribles (which made me realize that i'm probably more of a Star Trek nerd than i thought

everything about this movie was amazing....the cast from the first film continue to play their roles flawlessly.....Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan steals the movie (as he should).....the plot was fluid and damn near perfect....creating a new story line while at the same time in many ways remaking the original film.....from second one to the credits this film is edge of your seat excitement and absolute fun as only a Star trek film can bring.....the effects were amazing and the 3d was exciting.....all i could think about when the credits started to roll was how i could not wait to see it again

also the preview for Ender's Game made me wet my seat

Definitely gonna see this over the weekend. The first one was great. Also the rec from Exo looks awesome also. Primer while a rather strange movie was done in a way that i've never seen a movie done and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

I watched "A good day to die hard" ... loved the action. Also watched "Gattaca" again. If you guys like psychological thrillers you must watch "PI" and "The man from earth". Take care.

I just saw Rosemary's Baby for the first time, Oh MY god. it was really good. I loved the whole conspiratorial factor and it had really great pacing. Polanski is becoming one of my favorite directors, his style is so distinct and tasteful.

Star Trek: Into Darkness

Sorry Bob...

I thought this was a load of ass. ASS. First off let me say that I'm in no way a Star Trek watcher or fan. The whole series basically just flew right past me. I was the kid who just watched Star Wars over and over and over again. With that said this may be a movie that I would have enjoyed better if I HAD been a Star Trek fan but Bob wasn't so I'm going to go ahead and say that this film failed. There were however two redeeming factors...

Two great action scenes
Benedict Cumberbatch

That's all. The script was so weak. I didn't give a sh*t about anything that was happening and they really didn't try to get me to care. The "war" that could have been implemented didn't scare me at one bit. The "crew" being fought over held no emotional connection as to what happened to them. Oh, and that last scene was total garbage.

I really liked the first one so I was disappointed that this failed miserably. Could have been great but just ended up being cookie cutter Star Trek masturbation.
