I like crime movies—British, South Korean, Hong Kong, classic noir, modern noir, etc. I like horror movies—both the truly scary variety and the humorous variety. I like off-beat indie movies—huge Jarmusch fan here. I like martial arts movies. I like guns blazing action movies. I like cult films and quirky comedies. I like fantasy—both the Lord of the Rings kind and the Terry Gilliam kind. And as far as animation goes, I like Pixar and a lot of that eccentric animation that comes out of France and more indie type stuff like Persepolis and Mary & Max, and yeah, I've enjoyed some anime as well.

Some shots in the dark...

Crime: Cowboy Bebop (noir/sci-fi/western)

You've obviously heard of it, but if you haven't seen it then you really should.

Guns blazing action: Black Lagoon

Japanese salaryman is kidnapped by modern day pirate/mercenaries, and decides to join them to escape from his dull life. Action-packed, funny, over-the-top, at times dark, it's pretty much the ultimate action movie turned into an anime. Just good mindless fun. I'd go with the subtitled version though, as the dub is pretty bad.

Hellsing Ultimate

You could call it horror, but it's really an surreal action series with horror trimmings. At the end of the novel Dracula, he was captured instead of killed, enslaved by magic to Van Hellsing's bloodline, and is now used to hunt other vampires. Original TV series was episodic, but Ultimate is one long storyline that only lets up occasionally. And Nazi vampires. It's also one of the few instances where a dub is better than a sub, if only because you get to hear British people and Germans with British and German accents.

I'd say NGE is a sci-fi psychological thriller drama.

If you have to use that many words to reduce a show to something you can use to find at a hypothetical Blockbuster that still exists, then you should probably just forgo categorizing it altogether.

Honestly, I think we're just having a nerdy conversation with each other at this point, with you as an irrelevant middle man.

Ok. I guess I was expecting some sort of reply to my description of what I'm into, since you asked what I was into.
