Tonight's film was the PBS Independent Lens feature, Copyright Criminals which originally aired Jan 19, 2010. The film was a celebration of turntablism and the golden age of sample culture.

With a soundtrack by El-P and RJD2, Copyright Criminals includes interviews with countless icons of sampling culture. Here are just a few -

Clyde is Kewl but Albini you can go **** yourself. Sampling is Transformative! I mean that's what H3 would argue. Just mention the artist you sampled from.

I Remember You

I think that ghost stories have a lot of untapped potential for brilliant storytelling and this film tells me that I'm right about that. This Icelandic film is a really interesting blend of horror, mystery, noir, romance, and supernatural thriller that focuses on loss, grief, betrayal, and obsession. Excellent cinematography, symbolic sets, great pacing, sparing but gripping use of suspense, and extremely ****ing creepy atmosphere. This is sort of similar to The Wailing but not as a convoluted. Some of the dialogue is a bit expository but I guess that beats a flashback scene. I really enjoyed this. 4.5/5

The Iceman

This didn't connect with me at all when I first tried it, but I gave it a more serious watch and loved it. The ending was absolutely crushing, it's incredible how they can make such a cold and horrific person such a sympathetic character. 4/5

Love that flick. Pretty much love anything Shannon is in. Was nice to see Chris Evans playing a role so out of his usual stuff too.
