Clerks 2 was pretty good, and I'm in the minority that actually liked Jersey Girl. Otherwise I agree.

In other news, I saw Midnight In Paris the other night. It was good, worth seeing and all, but far from the best thing Woody Allen's ever done. I had a few problems with it, one of them being that it was either badly edited or underwritten - whatever it was, the plot and the characters in it (particularly Michael Sheen and Rachael McAdams') weren't explored as thoroughly as they could've been.

Overall though it's a throwback to the Purple Rose Of Cairo (my favourite Allen movie), which is far from a bad thing.

Obviously about 3 years too late for me but this was decent enough. I won't go into the discrepancies from the poem because that would be churlish of me but I did appreciate the fact that Old English was used in the film but I did find some of the motion capture both spellbinding and shockingly bad and I hate to be clichéd but Angelina Jolie obviously looked decent

Meet The Feebles

Absolutely loved this film. Probably one of the most interest, original, and anti-commercial films I've ever seen. Absolutely graphic, and absolutely wonderful. One of those gems you can only ever imagine seeing in the world of low budget 'direct to tape' release.

Brazil

Finally got around to watching the full thing, and it's very very good. Rock solid throughout, and well deserving of it's legacy as a film.

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

And, it only gets better on subsequent viewings. At least I think so, although I do make sure enough time passes so that I don't get tired of it.

Consider also checking out The Fisher King by Terry Gilliam. That one and Brazil are his two finest, I think.

edit :

Since we're talking Gilliam, I saw this one again yesterday :

Time Bandits, what a movie! It's fascinating that someone (Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin) could write something so silly and make a film out of it. For those who haven't seen it, it is, roughly speaking about a boy who joins up with a gang of robbers (all midgets) travelling through time using a map they stole from God while working for him. It's completely bizarre and sprinkled throughout with silly and often quite dark humour. Not brilliant by any means, but entertaining and it's such a curiosity that film buffs who haven't seen it will want to anyways. My favourite part is the brilliant ending.

^ I have been eagerly awaiting my second viewing of Brazil. I figure six months is a good interval.

The Graduate

Was ok. Obviously I take 'greatest classic ever to classic' films with a grain of salt. Not that it was bad, just hurt from some outdated aspects like scenes that go on a 30-40 seconds longer than they need to. (when every scene does this it really starts to bog a film down.)

Saw it in the theater when it first came out, loved it ever since.

Yeah, it is fun and I tend to watch it again every few years, this time because it came out on blu-ray. It gives me an incentive (I think the word is) to re-watch a lot of old favourites

Just seen Four Lions. Bloody brilliant film. I'm always a fan of the comedies that just have the odd laugh with mostly subtle jokes, and it really achieved that.
