Only in that what their trailers implied them to be (A Fast & Furious type action movie/Liam Neeson killing wolves with his bare hands) is not close at all to what the movie is really like (A pensive, ultra violent film-noir/an artsy, minimalist character study on death).

But yeah. That's about it.

it was actually pretty horrible....a couple of crass laugh out loud moments....for the most part worth the 90 minutes of so to watch it

This one was fantastic. It's simply about aliens (that look really awesome) attacking the block, and the six or seven kids who have to defend it. I'm glad I finally got around to watching it cause this is now my favorite movie of 2011. Easily 9/10. Sci-fi/Action/Horror/Comedy

This one was great too. If you like horror movies, this is a must watch. It completely flips the genre on it's head. It's about some college students who go camping at the same time as Tucker and Dale, the friendly hillbilly protagonists of the movie, are going to their vacation house. To sum it up, the college students eventually think Tucker and Dale are psycho killers, and Tucker and Dale can't understand why these college kids are acting so strange and killing themselves all over their property. 8.5/10 Also, this one is on Netflix Instant for those of you who have that service.

Netflix Instant? Hmmm...I'm not yet familiar with this service but sounds intriguing.

Just finally got to watching the old and new The Thing.

After reading reviews most seemed to say the old one was way better, with a deeper plot, and less reliant on cgi. And to be honest after watching the new one first then the old one (the newer one is a prequal) the 2011 version was much better. The 1982 version relied just as heavily on the cgi which was terrible at the time. Not to mention the 2011 version did a wonderful job of connecting the two movies. you could watch them almost as one if not for the difference of about 30 years.

huh? what? do you even know what cgi means?

the old one only used puppetry, not computer graphics

are you confusing "cgi" with "special effects"?

I agree, the newer one was awesome. The older one was good as well, but it does seem dated, especially when I grew up with movies that all had better special effects than it.
Sometimes I think movie critics can't tell the difference between a good movie and a bad one. This only got a 49 on metacritic.:banghead:
