I just watched Brazil again. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it the first time I saw it (about a year ago), but this time I adored just about every moment of it. Top ten films all time for me probably.

That film is ingenious, every time I watch it I am in stitches throughout most of the film. I love the absurdism and all of the satirism within.

Brazil is certainly brilliant .. And (imo) probably finest the second time one watches it. :)

I love the ending, it hits so hard.

Better than City of God?

I'd give City of God a B-.

So yes.

I loved it the first time, but I actually think it's time for a second viewing. I didn't want to over-do it right off, because I knew it would be one of my all-time favorites after a first watch.

Terry Gilliam is definitely one of my favorites. Ingenious. And as good or a better warning of what's to come than 1984. I love the stupidity of the government, but the menacing stupidity is what's worrisome.

Gotta go back and re-watch it for sure.

I didn't really get a chance to see City of God. I was under the impression that they weren't the same type of films. Like apples and oranges, but as I'm ignorant of *exactly* what CoG is about, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I actually saw Brazil before I read 1984. I kept picturing the movie, it was nice.

Apples and oranges. Literally the only similarity the two have is word "Brazil". Both are a great in their own way.
