i thought that was good, but PKD's Gnostic Christianity wasn't translated well to screen, as it focussed more on the romantic angle

Has anyone non-Kiwi heard of this film?

If you think that was slow you should see the BBC adaptation of it that was made in the late 70s. The plot moves at a snails pace but the performances are just full of quality. There's a scene that lasts around 10 minutes and it's just a bunch of people walking into a room for a meeting with no dialogue whatsoever apart from the occasional 'good morning', and yet the way each person does it reveals so much of their character, it's just brilliantly done.
I've not seen the movie yet but it has really big shoes to fill.

The ending is interesting and really makes the film, I think. I've always interpreted it in a pretty straight-forward way, taking the events at face value. I always thought it was about something like the duality of how things could have turned out.

I liked it a lot. I haven't seen Ryan Gosling in many things that I actually drew enjoyment from, but this is a keeper. One downside was that I was expecting something far more experimental than what I saw, since everybody bitched about how it tries to be far too artsy for its own good. Usually that's a sign that it will be a film that I appreciate for its avant-gardism. The only thing I would consider artsy in this film is the vagueness of the ending. Some would say that it's the cinematography that's art house but I entirely disagree, it's just good cinematography in my opinion.
Anyways, I liked the action in it and the storyline was dark enough to keep me interested, it was a great ride the whole way through, had me intrigued from moment one. 9.5/10

Oh my, a Shakespearean spoof. Can't get more dry than that now, can we?
That was my initial thought of the film, but I watched it nonetheless since Netflix recommended it to me with five stars according to my taste, and damn, they were right. I just finished reading Hamlet again, so everything from the play was still fresh when I watched it. This film had me in hysterics the whole way through, and the humour was smart and Shakespearean in itself, but with modern language so that it's easier to understand what in the Hell they are saying. That being said, this may be one of my favourite comedies that I've seen. 10/10

No Country For Old Men
This was great, absolutely met any expectations I had for it. High quality thriller with some excellent dialogue. 8.5/10

That movie was amazing. Bardem was my favorite actor. With so little lines he couldnt really mess it up though!

The Descendants

It was good overall, nothing special really. Not much variability from any other light handed dramas that you've seen before: sorrow throughout, predictable storyline, comedic relief when it starts getting a bit sad, etc. Clooney had some fine acting moments, Beau Bridges played a good supporting role, but apart from that, 'twas nothing special. But it was a nice film to take my grandmother to and she really enjoyed it, so that was worth it. 6/10
