Out of all the best picture noms:

Call Me By Your Name > 3 Billboards > Phantom Thread > Get Out > Dunkirk > The Shape Of Water > Darkest Hour > Lady Bird > The Post

Out of the Best Picture nominations I've only seen 3 Billboards, Get Out, Dunkirk, The Shape of Water, and Lady Bird. I've still got plenty of homework to do, can't say I'm really excited, though. Besides maybe Darkest Hour nothing else on the list appeals to me, but I like getting drunk on Oscars night and yelling at the TV, so I'll watch em anyway.

From what I've seen so far I'd rank em' 3 Billboards > Get Out > Dunkirk > Lady Bird > The Shape of Water.

Also finally choose to check out Zoolander 2 a few days ago.

No where near as good as the original but had a chuckle at times.

Of the oscar noms I've seen this year

Phantom Thread>3 Billboards>The Shape of Water>Get Out

Gerald's Game is still the best movie I've seen from 2017 though.

My favorite is The Big Lebowski, which is also one of my favorite movies overall.

I'm not really bothering catching up on Oscar movies. There's not really any that seem like something I need to see, and my list of films I need to watch is long enough. For that matter, I think Cannes nominated movies are more worth going after. An Oscar nomination doesn't really signal any credibility to me.

How very hip of you.

They aren't the end all be all, but they sure aren't the Grammy's either.

Cannes is absolutely>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> but the Oscars selection virtually always has at least 2-3 great films worth seeking out and it gives you an idea of how Hollywood is evolving. I think there's value on catching up on the nominations. It's not like they're must see films, but I wouldn't say the same for Cannes either.
