I'm not expecting much, and doubt it will win him any oscars. I feel like the past few things I've seen him in I wasn't terribly blown away. He's not super memorable as an actor, tbh. Which is a shame because I loved Bronson, DKR and some others.

Ja, I really liked Hardy in Donkey Kong Road too.

Hardy was very good in Locke, so I know he's not without ability. |

Trying to get back to watching movies regularly. This evening, I chose "The Sea of Trees".
![]() Had an interesting premise about a man who travels to Aokigahara Forest to commit suicide. Turned out to be a really bad movie. Then I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes and realized it's at 11% Then I check it at IMDB, realize it's Gus Van Sant, then check his filmography. This guy has never made a decent movie. Not one I have seen anyway. This is a shame, since I wanted to watch "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot" when it opens in movie theaters, but now, realizing that it is also by Van Sant... I'm thinking I better not. |

Seems like a schmaltz fest just from the description.
Drugstore Cowboy is a phenomenal Van Sant film if you haven't seen that. Looking at his filmography, Good Will Hunting is decent I guess.

You have no idea how accurate your assumptions about this movie are: epic schmaltz overload. Haven't watched Drugstore Cowboy, so maybe he'll get that one chance. Seems he's been losing his way over the years. |

I just watched Irreversible and I guess it was okay. Kinda whatever and the violence is over hyped. This New French Extremity movement needs to redeem itself after watching this and Martyrs and Calvaire. Pretty lackluster.
