Victoria

A woman meets a group of guys at a night club and their night escalates through a series of crimes. Done in a single take that feels like it's just doing it for technical cred at first, but as the movie goes on it helps capture the momentum and freewheeling energy of spending a night with people you don't know too well (though they get into more intense **** than most people) as well as Linklater did. Slow burning at first, but has hella suspense and very organic character chemistry (probably from the improvised dialogue). I dug.

Spoiler for .:
I expected Victoria or Sonne to die based on how much focus was on them, but goddamn Sonne's death ****ed me up. Was going to call it a tearjerker above but that's a total spoiler.

I'll bet Russian WW2 movies are a great way to clear out a party.

It's actually German. It's about a small unit and lieutenant that is sent to Stalingrad, and **** hits the fan pretty quick. Basically what it's like to invade and lose. One of the antagonists is a mustache twirling Nazi commander which is stupid over the top. The unit gets sent to a mine detection and defusal penal unit because of the actions of a single soldier, and they have to act as part of a firing squad not long after being reinstated.
