I Love You Man - ***

I only watched this movie because me and grandma have established Sunday as movie night and she wanted to see Knowing, this was my only alternative to seeing that piece of sh*t, and well, my expectations were incredibly low.

But that's good, because there's nothing better than going to see a movie with 0 expectations and being pleasantly surprised, and yeah, film snobs get your torches and pitchforks, I liked it.

Yeah some of the gags are dumb and tasteless, one "talking dirty at an inappropriate moment" gag too many. But I found Paul Rudd (who was great in 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up) and Jason Segel to be surprisingly funny, I loved the Rush bits, great stuff. It's not ROFL funny, but it's a surprisingly pleasant and engaging buddy movie. If you're into this whole sub-genre of "bro" comedies that's all the rage now thanks to Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow, this is worth checking out. It's not on their level of quality, but it's close enough.

I think Paul Rudd was great in that movie because of how fuckin awkward he made anything.

I do have to say though, there was an appalling amount of product placement in this movie.

But anyway. The scene where they're playing Tom Sawyer by Rush is hilarious, and when they're at the concert.

Was there? I know they mentioned some restaurants, is that what you're talkin bout?

Saw it in the theater @ 5 years ago. Loved it Ive rented it a few times since then. This movie has almost no dialogue (maybe 2 or 3 spoken lines), yet it's massively entertaining

I loved the animation and character design but for some reason it didn't hold my attention after the kidnapping. The first 20 minutes or so were brilliant though.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-30-2009 04:14 AM

Latest film I've seen is Donnie Darko, I introduced my friend to it. He got the concept of it way faster than I did. I still love it, screw the people who say it's over-rated.

I just watched Hitman last night, Pineapple Express the night before, and The Love Guru last week.

Great nostalgic atmosphere and chock full of great music. Just awesome. Condenses everything I like in american culture into 90 minutes. As close to the "small town America" experience as I'll ever get I'd imagine. 9/10

I felt the same about this film, been a while but I think it's my favourite Linklater film, he can be a let down sometimes :(
Some good turns from soon-to-be-famous dudes as well, it's been said many times but Ben Affleck was great at playing arseholes

Not really. It was pretty mediocre all around with a few up moments.

But...Jason Statham...

Jason Statham has the charisma and talent of a lamp post. I don't care if he has a six/eight pack he's still on my naughty list... and he's balding by the looks of it (HA!)

I'd still hit it...:\

But yeah, I've tried to stay away from his films after Crank.
