Finally saw this. It was awesome, I would recommend it to anybody who hasn't already seen it.

Finally got to see the first of the 'Vengeance' trilogy. It's a film of two halves with your sympathy for the two main protagonists questioned in each half. A little superfluos in parts but worth a watch for sure. I noticed the colour green being heavily used in the first half and need to investigate further as to why that is.

Probably the worst movie I've seen all year. There were so many plot-holes and inconsistencies in the narrative, plus the storyline didn't make much sense at all. Basically it attempted to tread on the old same human nature vs. technology issues that we've seen in countless numbers of movies before, but executed in an appalling way.

I didn't have high hopes for the movie, but comic was alright but wasn't breathtaking in any way.

^Really good movie. I already watched many times, but this it was on our Uni's cine-club. It makes a big change from standard TV to big screen. I've enjoyed it even more. Never get bored of that movie.

any remake, and there will be one, is going to totally miss the point of the original - it's low tech charm ('retro' is difficult to say out loud) and hamminess, having said that it is still the apex of cool and they don't make em like that anymore. Any fans of the original Metal Gear Solid, watch Escape From New York because it nicked most of its ideas from this movie.

edit: f*cking amazing supporting cast too, donald pleasance, lee van cleef, isaac hayes, legendary harry dean stanton
edit 2: in fact screw this CGI balls, i would take the model FX in this movie anyday, it didnt kill any of the illusion, infact it made it more fantastical and appealing

The Video Collection - POST APOCALYPTIC TRIPLE FEATURE (3

Damn awesome and complete rip offs replete with dodgy models and bad acting but damn, it has charm and fun by the bucketload.

I remade EFNY in my head after watching, even worked out the casting and everything ROFL.

Lee, since you like Carpenter films, did you ever see Prince of Darkness (1987) or In the Mouth of Madness (1995)? I've got them both, but I haven't got around to watching them just yet.

He hasn't really done anything good after They Live.

Village of the Damned was so horrible, I couldn't believe Carpenter actually directed that.

Hehe, They Live is okay. What I remember aside from the funny faces and the wonderful scene where he's in the bank and gives his bubblegum line is the ridiculously macho 1-on-1 fight in the back alley. It's like 5 minutes of them taking turns slugging eachother in the face. :p:

I haven't seen Village of the Damned, but his Ghosts of Mars movie was certainly forgettable. I also saw Vampires once, but can't remember much of that one either, not a good sign. In the Mouth of Madness looks and sounds quite exciting, though. A horror writer's fiction coming true - or is it all just in his mind? Or something like that.

I'm not actually too worried about the quality of the film when it comes to acting, plot holes etc. as long as the movie is entertaining. This one looks like it might be, although as you point out there are reasons to be sceptical.

I don't know why I feel slightly ashamed in admitting that I really liked it.
