Are you insinuating HSM doesn't have good music in it? ;)

J'ai Toujours Reve D'Etre Un Gangster actually looks pretty interesting. Especially how she has a gun in her waistband whilst breastfeeding.

I had to google HSM to figure out what you meant... I can't comment, I haven't seen it. Maybe I should...http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...ower/think.gif

That's actually sickening that I abbreviated that, like I was a fan. Maybe you should see it, it's definetly a learning curve... :D

Haha. I had to look that up too. Believe it or not I actually saw one of those movies once. My wife's cousin's step-daughter had it on so I sort of have an excuse.

Yeah... I watched it because I was looking after my cousin who's a toddler, so I assume I have an excuse too :o:

TCM is showing a full month of Best Picture films this February and last night 8 1/2 was on, sans commercials. One of my top films ever.

It seems these days, that we only have to put few gay characters in a movie to make it a blockbuster. It all looked too easy. It felt like they were thinking "Hey! Let's make a film with all the characters being bi-sexuals, and we'll get them to juggle their interest!!". It was all too predictable. Btw, I didn't really get where is the "edgy" part?

About the music: all the songs are just examples of cliché French pop. As I grew up in a very French style society, I got quite fed-up with this kind of corny music. The French can be the greatest, music-wise, but when it comes to Pop, they should stop imitating the Americans.
French Folk Rock was certainly the root of all the songs in the film, but this "American Pop" arrangement ruined it. That's without talking about the lyrics... Very bad lyrics: "I want to taste your saliva, and let its poison go through me" or "The worm of the apple may go through your teeth and rot you heart, your mind and your whole body - but the worm in the apple can go through me, and make me ecstatic" or even "Let your tongue strike me gently, let it cleanse my whole body". They should have just shut up.

I think that is the first time I don't side with the gay couple in a film.

Currently watching Picture Me: A Model's Diary. It apparently did the festival rounds in 09 and was widely appreciated as a genuinely interesting insight into the modelling industry, and I'd have to agree. I was expecting a low-budget version of The Hills but, surprisingly, it features (mostly) intelligent young females who just happen to walk the runway for a living. It's interesting to watch Sara, the protagonist, go from level-headed "I can't believe I'm being paid to do this" everywoman the one minute, and then becoming an emotional wreck over her "pizza face" the next.

^ HILARY SWANK IS TEH MAN!1!!!

Great film, definitely a favourite. The choice of the image quite intrigued me. The whole editing and cinematography felt more like I was watching Lost Highway, and not an adaptation of a true story happening in the middle of nowhere. I loved that twist. The image doesn't have to be boring, if the story is real. The sound, image, mixing, editing, all worked very well... and of course the acting: Excellent!
