To those who have not yet seen 'Withnail and I'...your life will never be complete, until you have.

It's nowhere near as good as Lebowski.

In your opinion... many would disagree :D The two films don't make for a stark comparison, considering the similarities they share - continuous swearing and drug/drink intake, irreverent style, brilliant scripts... they are both classic comedies imo, i watched both countless times growing up and in college... although Withnail has a more bittersweet edge to it than BL that may not appeal to some

I have an allergic reaction to anything that enjoys a cult status amongst the testosterone college population. Maybe that has informed my view of it to an extent, but I felt it was a mediocre film from a mediocre writer. Will give it another go at some point, probably...:\

It's about two friends who are aspiring actors but nearly broke, and they decide to go live in one of the friend's (Withnail's) rich uncle's country house for a week. Turn out the place is run down, they're threatened by a poacher, and some funny stuff happens. Anyways I thought it was really good, funny but sad at the same time.

cool. Ill check it out!

Yeah I'm a huge fan of AGI. Up there with my favourite director's and Amores Perros is an amazing film. I'm not sure it's the best in his loosely arranged 'trilogy' though. The others are 21 Grams and Babel if you haven't seen them! Always a lot of emotion in his films and his trademark appears to be intertwining a handful of tales with a common theme, usually involved with human emotion; love, loss, isolation, for example.

I know you weren't asking me, but I thought this movie was amazing. I loved the make up and effects and costumes.
