Cause I like seeing superheroes. There are a million ****ty superhero comics but they also don't diminish my love of the comics that are good. DC making terrible movies doesn't touch on my feelings toward the Marvel MCU.

And yeah, Suicide Squad being mediocre was pretty bad for me. I'd been looking forward to it since it was announced cause A.) Harley Quinn, and B.) the Suicide Squad is awesome, so seeing it get the ol' DC halfass treatment with a side of joylessness was garbage.

Just curious, but what exactly were you expecting out of them? If they've become known for mediocrity, why would they change?

I wasn't so much expecting it as hoping that DC was trying to make a different kind of superhero movie after seeing how well Guardians of the Galaxy did. Suicide Squad would have been perfect to step outside their wheelbox but DC just didn't have the balls to go all the way with it.

Thelonious Monkey 12-26-2016 04:16 PM

wow, nerds everywhere.

right? the movie sold itself, DC had every reason to use the title to turn their momentum around and yet, they said **** it once again and put out a shell of a movie.

The Batlord 12-26-2016 04:35 PM

I'd love to look forward to Justice League... except I see no reason to expect DC to not do exactly to it what they did with Batman v. Superman. I'm kinda hopeful for Wonder Woman, but with how much they're trying to copy Marvel it's kinda looking like it might be Captain America 1, Part 2.

If you go back, I was the only one that agreed with you that it was good. I then proceeded to mention the little nit picky things that comic book nerds were mad about. Just because I'm into comics doesn't mean I was mad about those same things. I also remember stating that as well. So you might want to go back and re-check what I said.

That's actually true. I forgot that you said it was good. My bad.

Documentary: Eddie - Strongman

Went into this with low expectations even though it has a solid five star rating by Netflix viewers. Absolutely excellent stuff. First off Eddie Hall is freaking hilarious. The dude had me laughing out loud a number of times. Secondly this will give you a whole new insight and appreciation into the whole "Strongest Man on the Planet" thing.

My highest recommendation.

You're relatively young. Your taste is going to progress into such a place where you might learn how to float indian style over a large pile of barely distinguishable vinyl and VHS tapes that only exist in the excess of your mind and at one time in a box crate in the basement of one old geezer that reached the state of weird as f*ck movie/music taste enlightenment as you have. It's going to be a sight to behold.

The Batlord 12-27-2016 08:41 PM

Alright, everyone in my family seems to like A Christmas Story whereas I see it as dull, trite garbage for people who will forever be boring ****s that the world will not miss when they're dead. Thoughts?

Exo 12-27-2016 08:47 PM

It's a fun movie. Nothing special. Just fun. The narration to me makes it watchable. The set design is also pretty great. I should know. I lived through the 50s.

The Batlord 12-27-2016 09:02 PM

I kinda hate the narration. It tries so hard to sound whimsical but just ends up being annoying.

Key 12-27-2016 09:29 PM

Holy ****. Rogue One was ****ing phenomenal.

It's a good watch maybe two or three times. I'm just tired of it and never have to watch it again at this point.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-28-2016 05:45 AM

the nightmare before christmas, bad santa, and home alone are the only christmas movies i actually enjoy. at least beyond just being christmas movies.

love actually is pretty solid as well, but i don't ever find myself wanting to watch it.

I agree with this!

Elf is pretty damn great.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-28-2016 08:18 AM

just looking at will ferrell's stupid face in that trailer makes me want to barf

Frownland 12-28-2016 08:29 AM

Elf is one of his best characters son.

Think about it this way, would you let memes kill DG for you?

kibbeh 12-28-2016 09:01 AM

Christmas movies are so haram. Elf is okay though.

The weird thing is how you like Home Alone and don't like Elf though. Home Alone's goofiness isn't even that charming.

home alone 2 > home alone

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-28-2016 09:34 AM

home alone is a classic, there's some flaws sure, but it's very memorable and despite what you say, charming. elf is just obnoxious. do you like step-brothers too? because that's what it reminds me of and i hate that movie even more.

I like Home Alone as well, I just think that the two films are more closely related than you give them credit for.

but do you like step-brothers? if you do this will all make sense and we can write it off as you being blinded by your ****ty taste

Frownland 12-28-2016 09:37 AM

It's okay for a watch once when you're twelve. Elf is much better.

That part at the interview when they try to do it together is pretty hilarious, how they hide John C. Reilly and he slowly pokes his head out.

yeah well, no.

john c reilly is actually hilarious and i wish he would get to show that more in films. he totally killed his role in magnolia.

Frownland 12-28-2016 09:40 AM

You should try watching it without acting like a little bitch whenever you see something funny.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-28-2016 09:42 AM

right, maybe 139th time is the charm. seriously dude i've seen it so many times i could probably read the entire dialogue off the top of my head. it's just not cute or funny or even enjoyable. at best it's a tolerable christmas film that i would only choose over made for tv christmas films.

kibbeh 12-28-2016 09:43 AM

you guys do realize that its okay that someone dislikes a movie that another person likes, yeah?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-28-2016 09:44 AM

no

Probably just got overplayed for you, the way every single seasonal movie does. I honestly wouldn't watch Elf, Christmas Story, Home Alone, Santa Clause, or any of those ****ing claymation bull****s unless I was saving myself from something really boring, like baseball, but I can still recognize and appreciate what makes all of them classics.
