Not really, it's very overrated. I personally don't like it at all, and the horrible 80s fashion just makes it more painful for me.

I remember when I was doing A-levels and my film teacher kept showing my class clips from this film back when we were studying the basics. 3 or 4 years later, I finally decided to watch it. I'm kinda embarassed this one's eluded me 'til now, because it was absolutely fantastic stuff. Apart from the odd exception (the wee lad from the Shining among other examples that escape me at the minute), I never knew kids could act 'til I saw this - four absolutely outstanding performances from the young stars here, and truly convincing portrayals of four very different characters. Kiefer Sutherland makes a very harrowing antagonist too (a role he'd assume again in the Lost Boys about a year after this was released). Straight out of the top drawer this.
Definitely a favourite of mine. It's one of those movies that I can always be in the mood for.

Underrated, really enjoyed it even if the ending is a bit overcooked and the allegorical element is a tad heavy-handed. 4/5

Velvet Goldmine
A feast for the senses, gloriously self-indulgent and occasionaly downright ridicoulous yet quite enjoyable nonetheless, although somebody who dosn't generally like 70's glam rock might struggle to grasp what's going on.

Quite enjoyed this. Some nice nonsense right there.
Plus, some scenes are undoubtedly pythonesque.

Just watched this again for the second time and picked up a lot of stuff that I missed when I first watched it. I think this is Stanley Kubrick's most underrated film!
