Mallrats

Another film from Kevin Smiths View askew universe films, that seemed to bypass me on original release. As usual with Smith films it's the slacker dialogue and aimable performances and not direction that propel his movies. His films seem to offer a view of America that is refreshingly honest, and not the usual middle class coiffeured bunch of teens we usually get from America. If none of you are familiar with Kevin Smith, get your arses in gear people!
The View Askewniverse

The Jacket

An art film with a mainstream budget. This film is both and languid and lucid in it's premise. Some will love the arresting visuals and hypnotic tone, others will just be bmused. Adrien brody is a returning Gulf War vet, who after surving a near fatal head wound;winds up in a mental institution after he is implicated in the killing of a policeman. While inside he is subjected to new drugs, placed into a straitjacket and forced to lay in a mortuary drawer for hours on end. His dreams and nightmares collide, and he discovers he can time travel. While all of this sounds confusing, it is a deceptively simple story about mans instinct for survival. A brilliant cast and a superlative Brian Eno score put the icing on the cake.

i saw the jacket expecting the same watered-down paranoia film like all the others, but it was actually really good :>

i watched "bug" the other day, which is interesting in the beginning but fall flats at the end, good acting though :)

bout some crazy schitzophenic army guy and his crack-head gf who think bugs are in their skin and **** xD

Another watch reveals another layer to the film and a possible different interpretation of the film via the ending. I'm only saying this as when I watched it recently, it was for the second time. I noticed a few things I had missed first time round.

I went on a Buster Keaton binge yesterday and watched The General, The Cameraman, and Steamboat Bill Jr.

I just watched Blood and Chocolate the other day. Good film.
