another book destroyed by a director [Tom Tykwer, this time ... tho i love his other movies]

The Perfume by Patrick Süskind

I enjoy The Shining book and movie for their differences. I think Kubrick's interpretation was great. I also think King's attempt at The Shining with his made-for-TV movie was absolute garbage. I certainly don't think the book was destroyed by a director.

I was talking about what King said ... well Kubrick did also agree with King on the point of "not capturing the book in the movie"...
But i do feel that Kubrick's version is better ... it's hard to take haunted houses seriously ... plus Kubrick made a huge change in adapting "A clockwork orange" i read the ending in the book, it was awful!

I think it's best to forget about the movie when reading the book and vice versa. Both are great but the movie bears only a passing resemblance to what goes on in the book.

i usually forget about it if the movie is captivating enough, if i lose attention i'll probably just end up turning it off because i know how it ends anyways.

there are plenty of movies that are a hell of a lot better than the books; whoever was responsible for The Count of Monte Cristo deserves an award for lifetime achievement for being about to turn that dull shitpile into something worth watching.

Staying on the subject of movies being better than books and Stephen King, here's another that comes to mind:

Oh come on, the book was far from boring.
