Finally! After months of checking this used book store that deals in movies this finally found its way in.

The Evil Dead (1981)

My cult DVD collection has another addition.

Army of Darkness (1993)

I'm guessing someone sold their collection but either decided to hold onto The Evil Dead 2 (1987), or someone got to it before me. Either way this is still one of my favourite movies.

10 bucks well spent
We have both mentioned Session 9 many times on these boards and it has replay value galore. Brilliant film.

Evil Dead goes without saying and a shame you couldn't get Evil Dead 2 but part 3? I have never got on with that film even after a long hiatus between watching it (around 5 years at least). It's just a big mess to me.

It was my first experience with the series, I was sick that day and my dad took the day off work anyways so we just ended up watching old movies, one of which was Army of Darkness. I think it's one of those situations where your opinion is nudged in one way or another by the external factors that just kind of contaminate your opinion. An example of the opposite effect was in 2009 when I went to see Inglorious Basterds with a friend and his movie school friends who wouldn't give my opinions the time of day. I was stuck at the theater from 6 pm to 12 pm with those fucks so by the time the movie started I was in a pretty sour mood and as a result didn't like the movie.

I have seen bits and it is a mind fuck of a film. Will have to give more of a write up when i see it all. But I am looking forward to it.

I was looking at what I thought was that at a used CD store today, but it turned out to be an American 1986 film of the same name. I'm glad I didn't grab it now. House (1977) has appeared on a number of lists of Japanese horror films, a subgenre I have been trying to explore (along with Korean horror).

Anyhow I picked up these movies recently.

The Road Warrior (1981)

I liked Mad Max (1979) and apparently this one is a lot more ostentatious, which is saying a lot.

Metropolis (1927)

Absolute classic sci-fi movie, must own for any sci-fi nerd, plus it was only $5.

Blade Runner (1982)

Another "must own" for sci-fi nerds, especially if you enjoy the cyberpunk subgenre.

12 Monkeys (1995)

I've always really liked this movie, I think it's one of the better ones that deals with the subject of time travel and it's cool to see Bruce Willis play a more vulnerable person who's definitely not John McClane. Also it's one of Brad Pitt's best performances in a role you see him actively trying in.

True Romance (1993)

Perhaps my favourite Tarantino screenplay and easily one of the best ensemble casts of all time.

I hate the title Road Warrior It's Mad Max 2 and a damn good blast!

Bladerunner? No description needed. It's a masterpiece.

Halloween (1978)

While I'll be first to admit that in regards to horror I prefer atmosphere building and suspense, I do enjoy a lot of the slasher films of the late '70's and '80's... just not the franchises that proceeded.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

It has honestly been at least a decade since I first saw this sometime in my adolescence. Thankfully I saw the original before seeing that Michael Bay/ Platinum Dunes atrocity.

Darkman (1990)

I've always wanted to see this movie as it's one of those rare genre films that manages to line up a well known actor who is more well known for doing serious roles (or at lest in Neeson's case would be well known for serious roles).

If anyone is wondering why I buy so many movies, there's a used bookstore in town that has far more movies than books and has a good deal of buy 3 for $10 so I stop by usually once a week and see what they have.

Seven Samurai (1954)

Kurosawa is one of those old time influential movie directors that I've really been meaning to get into, but just never was able to find their material. Luckily, while on a excursion to a used bookstore today, I was able to find his 1954 masterpiece so I can fill this gap in my film-viewing spectrum.
