Phantasmogoria: A Puzzle of Flesh

I never really got into Sierra Adventure Games, but I've always had a soft spot for FMV adventure games like the Tex Murphy series (although those are FMV mixed with 2.5D). The story is just bizarre enough to keep me interested and there's none of the annoying Sierra things like cheap deaths and failure states from not having the proper inventory item. That said though there aren't really much in the way of puzzles here and the FMV footage is so blocky and compressed that it looks pretty terrible, although to be fair it never really looked good, even in the 1990's. There's some pretty gratuitous violence and tits though, so it's not all bad.

I played the ish outta that game. Nice. I was a bit of a Sierra fanboy in the 90s.

The '90's were a different time when you just loved the idea that you had a game and it worked. There was always that pang of fear when you got a game for Christmas or your birthday as you were installing it that it just wasn't going to work, and at a time before Google you couldn't just easily lookup a fix. I was more a Lucasarts fanboy myself, but I did have an affinity for the Gabriel Knight series. I think the Police Quest games were pretty good too because there was always a thread of logic behind them, although they did have some stupid moments and some really bullsh*t deaths.

Thanks to the ongoing series on Game Grumps, I am playing Pokemon Snap right now. Took a while to figure out the emulation settings (was going super fast) but it was worth it. Used to love this game.

I do feel sorry for their perpetual state of groundhog, though.

Random thought: a modern version for the Wii U where you look around with the gamepad would be siiiick

Ross and Jared mentioned something similar to that in their playthrough.
I played Pokemon snap in the N64 and it was fun but it was kinda lame too.
it was kinda like playing Pilotwings, there's not much to do in the game and there's not alot of thrill in the gameplay

Don't remind me. It was awful!

Well when did you play it? It's outdated as hell which is why I think a new entry could take the good parts about the game and improve the rest. It could potentially be spectacular, especially since there's like 700 Pokemon to pick from now that we could photograph

Back when it first came out in the N64.
I actually agree with you, i think nintendo could make tons of money of a Wii U Pokemon snap and could take the series to new heights but clearly nintendo doesn't give a sh*t about it just like they don't give a sh*t for translating the Mother games even though fans have been begging them to do it for years.

It's kind of funny how times haven't exactly changed all that, I mean look at Mortal Kombat X and how broken that was on launch, or pretty much most of the big AAA games released in the last few years.

On another note, wtf was going on by the end of Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh? I mean I understood what was going on but what is it with Sierra games and weird endings?

This game is ****ing amazing. I didn't really understand the concept of it when I saw it on Steam, but it was cheap and I decided to give it a shot. Upon playing it, I realized that it was of a funny / over the top violent game with lots of awesome dialogue in between. I honestly play this game when I just feel like ****ing around and setting **** on fire and peeing on dead corpses. It's not meant to be taken seriously, and this game does that aspect very well. Definitely happy I picked this up.
