Well, like I said before, it wasn't as well executed as it could've been. But in the landscape of American television in the 80s it was a clever idea.

Well, in terms of significance of the three... Simpsons is probably the best show by lightyears. I think Simpsons is one of the most important sitcoms in television history, if not THE most important sitcom in television history. I don't think South Park, and definitely not Family Guy, could exist as they do without the Simpsons.

Besides, if you take good Simpsons(1992-1997) it's funnier, and significantly more intelligent than both other choices.

However, Simpsons has ****ing sucked for over a decade now. So, I voted Southpark since I'm feeling the poll means 'at the moment' not 'of all time'. Family Guy just gets boring now-a-days with it's extremely manically represented hit, and miss, ways.

I think Married with Children honestly was a brilliant show. It just went longer than it needed to, and really lacked new ideas. The thing that the show does well, that most don't, is that it really created it's own type of humor.

It's a joke that gets old fast, but it was a very good unique show for it's time.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

I don't think anything can touch The Simpsons from ~ seasons 4-10. The earlier episodes were alright but after that I think it's complete garbage (with a few exceptions).

I'm a big fan of South Park, although it has gone downhill as well. I think the first 10 or so seasons are very good.

Family Guy is really overrated. Admittedly I laugh at some parts, but I find the writing of the show to be a little lazy. So many of the gags are literally just copy-and-pasting parts of other movies or shows, and expecting it to be funny because a talking baby or a talking dog is saying it. Either that or they repeat something until it becomes absurd.

As for Married With Children, it's good for what it is. I was never a fan of those typical sitcoms with such obvious set-ups for jokes but it's much better than some of the other crap out there.

Everything from season 6 on has been pretty damn consistent. Have you seen the newest episodes? They've been ****ing hilarious.

Southpark gets better and better each year to me. I really never found mr hankey or "you kiled kenny" moments that funny, but social commentary about people who drive hybrid cars and how they like to smell their own ass is funny to me. Or al gore hunting down man bear pig.

Southpark is not the same show that was on 5 years ago, and i think Trey Parker is an incredible writer. What other show has just one writer?

It doesn't have one writer. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the head writers and have a team of consultants writing with them.

EDIT: After looking into it, you're actually right. Everyone brainstorms and then Trey Parker writes the script.
