Matter of taste. Only Arrested Development has been a worthwhile American comedy in my opinion, and they ended it before it went down the ****ter too.

Arrested Development was a great show that died a tragic death. They're supposed to be making a movie now though, so it's not completely gone.

You can add Lost, Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, 24, Six Feet Under, Modern Family, Community and many more to that list. I can't think of a country with better television to be honest (though maybe I'm biased). Maybe the overall quality of it isn't that great, but as far as individual shows go it can't be topped. No one's forcing you to watch all the reality shows and crappy sitcoms, so why even complain about them.

And I'm struggling to think of a single noteworthy Canadian show as an aside.

That's unnecessary, I was never boasting about Canadian TV.

I don't watch any of it either.

Canadian shows tend to rely a lot on inside jokes that only Canadians or people familiar enough with the culture will understand. That said though, there are some really funny and well written stuff that comes out of Canada, here's just a short list:
  • Trailer Park Boys
  • Godiva's
  • ReGenisis
  • Puppets Who Kill
  • Corner Gas (Hater's gonna hate)
  • This Hour Has 22 Minutes
  • Red Green Show
  • ReBoot
  • Da Vinci's Inquest
  • Kevin Spencer (kind of like our version of South Park)
  • Kids in the Hall
  • Royal Canadian Air Farce

Also while I'm on the subject, fuck the Degrassi series.

One should never boast about anything from Canada. Except for maple syrup and cheap prescription drugs. America allows Canada to exist for maple syrup and cheap prescription drugs.

U.S tv networks are terribly fickle
Fraid not. Its really all about money. If the ratings arent high enough they lose ad money for the commercial spots. Definitely still watch the series, some if the better episodes were near the end.

Brit shows tend to wrap up too quickly out of fear that they wont be renewed while us shows try to use cliffhangers as a bargaining chip not to cancel their show but it rarely works , most get canceled anyways.

I agree. As well as a show called "Testees". And I admit, if we are getting into comedies from Canada, "Kenny vs Spenny" wasn't all that bad either.

What about "Midsommer Murders" or "The Tudors"? In terms of British comedy, personally I prefer the ones like "Red Dwarf" or "The Mighty Boosh" although the Irish comedy "Father Ted" is probably one of the funniest comedies I have ever seen.

A truly great comedy and one of my alltime favorites is "Klovn" (Clown) out of Denmark but I do not know if there is an English subtitled version of it...most likely there is though.
