was The Abyss any good? I never watched it but I hear people talk about it from time to time.

Good enough to keep me interested from start to finish, even though it's lengthy, so I'd say yeah It has lots of mystery and suspense and, as you'd expect from a Cameron film, the sets and underwater environments and stuff look good and are surprisingly realistic.

i actually really like The Abyss...although like many of Cameron's films (with the exception of Aliens)....it tends to put me to sleep on frequent views....but the acting was good, the story very interesting, and as always the effects ahead of their time....i think i've pretty much enjoyed all of his films....although for the most part they are all watch once type of flicks....they could have shaved an hour out of Titanic and still have expressed his social points....i enjoyed Avatar upon the first viewing....but do not in any way understand all the hype about it...True Lies was fun as were both the Terminator films

I did forget about Alien and The Abyss. Two good pieces of work right there.

The storyline itself may have been lifted from Ferngully, but the story wasn't the point. The floating jellyfish things looking like they were about to fly up your nose was the point. And they ****ing ruled.
