How anyone can call that a connection, or how this makes for a good storyline, is completely beyond me. I'm no close-minded idiot but I just cannot fathom the sense of enjoyment people seem to get from it. The impression that I get is a lot of people, not everyone, watch the film and think "ooh, I'm gonna say I like this because not a lot happens but people might think I have an underlying intelligence and that's why I'm drawn to it".

It's boring, monotonous and ridiculously droney. In my eyes, it is one of the worst films I have ever watched.
SPOILER! - if you've not seen Lost In Translation, don't read.
They have conversations about not sleeping, they find a connection without loads of in depth conversations taking place. They know they're in the same boat and they just spend time with each other and have fun, go to parties, go to restaurants and as the film goes on you can sense where it's going, that there's going to be a problem because they both live separate lives, even though their relationship is a bit strange, you want things to some how work out and then the film draws that conclusion. I don't think you can decide to like something, and there's no point in saying you like it if you don't, I don't even think it's regarded as an intelligent sophisticated film, just a very simple love story..
