I think it's just the way she's done up for the show. I guarantee with different clothes and a different hairstyle she'd be quite attractive. I mean here's what she looked like in 1985:

Yeah, on second thought I'd put Shannon above Alex. Shannon is very hot, even if she was the most annoying character in the show.

Oh, and Kate when she's jungle nasty? That's when I'd have to move her up to number one.

As for Danielle, she doesn't look that bad to me, just a little too old and crazy for my tastes. When she was younger she looked a lot like what Alex looks like now.

I forgot about Penny, she ain't bad either.

Overall Lost is pretty high tier when it comes to it's leading leadies. I'd pass as far as Rose is concerned though.
