Hero...I'm mesmerized every single time I watch it. I'm not completely opposed to watching foreign film with English dubbing, but in this case subs are the only way to go.

Dreams is fantastic, Baraka is great, the others are questionable at best.

I watched that today because I've got a new tele for Christmas.
Best opening scene ever, up there with American Beauty as my favourite film.

I thought loving Tarantino and Guy Ritchie was the hip thing, you know, since everyone does it.

A lot of good films on these lists here are some of mine in no special order, a real mixed bag:

Godfather- Cliched I know but still the definative mafia film.
Apocolypse Now- The whole film, feels like a nightmare LSD trip (not that I do it) its dramatic, spectacular and Brando is masterful.
Full Metal Jacket- Shys away from the dramatics of Platoon and gives a much more stripped down experience.
Deer Hunter- Slow start but a great story about how a group of friends from Pennsylvannia fair in the Vietnam War.
Black Hawk Down- I must have watched this film about 20 times and always love putting it on.
Le Cercle Rouge- Possibly one of the greatest French gangster films of all time and certainly Melville`s crowning achievement.
Le Samourai- Another masterwork from Melville.
L`Àrmee des ombres-A story of comradeship and betrayal in the dark and gloomy world of the French Resistence.
Danton- Maybe Depardieu`s finest moment set against the backdrop of the French revolution.
Le Clan des Siciliens- Another great French gangster classic.
Jackie Brown- My fav film from Tarantino largely based on Samuel L Jackson`s great performance.
Carlito`s Way- My favourite Pacino film and one of the great dramatic endings in modern film, also Sean Penn is great.
Once Upon a Time in the West- My fav of the Spaghetti western series.
Seventh Seal- A Bergman masterpiece, fantastic storytelling and breathtaking photography.
Scarface- Again cliched but the ultimate American gangster film.
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre- Bogart was never better.
Frankenstein- "Its Alive....Its Alive" Boris Karloff
The Black Cat- Karloff and Lugosi
The Raven- Roles reversed with Lugosi playing evil personified.
Ed Wood- Always loved this film with its homage to the B-movie.
Lord of the Rings-Huge fan of Tolkien, never thought it could be put on the big screen.
La Dolce Vita- Fellini and Mastroianni deliver an Italian masterpiece.
A Long Good Friday- Hard hitting and along with "Get Carter" two of the finest British gangster film ever made.
Dirty Harry- Always loved this.
Taxi Driver- The film that made De Niro.
Deliverance- Fantastic film about 4 friends on a weekend trip, I`ve yet to meet a hillbilly.
Runaway Train- Jon Voight and Eric Roberts escaping from a high security prison in Alaska.
Exorcist- One of the great all time horror films.
A Bout de Souffle- Belmondo and the tragic Jean Seberg on screen togeather.
French Connection- Hard hitting epic with Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) after frog 1 and frog 2 etc.
Masque of the Red Death-Vincent Price`s greatest moment as Prince Prosperus.
George A Romero Series-The first three films are absolute classics:Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead. The films portray the simple message that paranoia, greed and distrust are far more dangerous than the zombies themselves.

mmmm this list is now getting a bit long

You're probably thinking of Le cercle rouge, Soleil rouge is some weird western with Charles Bronson...
