Oh and yes, that part with the Italian was very funny. I was actually curious if people who aren't that familiar with Italian would pick up on it...I guess it's kinda obvious...(:

Why do you hate Brad Pitt?

So I went and saw it a second time (not really by choice but I only go to movies when friends are going and invite me...so I went again because some friends I enjoy being with want to.) I did enjoy it a bit more, I tried to be slightly more detached then I normally am with movies (having a beer before hand helped me not think so much/get bored.) Anyway, I liked it more I still didn't really care for it though. I think my favorite part is Shoshanna's death in Chapter 5, it was melodramatic and overly-stylized but it was beautifully done anyway because of that. It was striking to me the first time but more so the second time. I still didn't really enjoy the parts with the Basterds much.

I think it's parodying how characters in the film misspell the word.

Yep. If I remember correctly that's how it's spelled on the bat or the rifle stock or whatever the hell it is the show a close up of near the beginning of the movie.

Maybe Tarantino just wanted to distance himself from the 1978 film?

I finally watched it yesterday! Great movie, but should never been watched in a conservative country. At every spill of blood the whole room was shouting in disagreement. But had a great time, definitely a Tarentino movie. Not his best movie writing-wise. But his best as director, imo.

I was laughing a lot, but the scalping seemed a bit too much for the others.
