IGN's reviews are without a doubt the worst reviews ever.

You know how movie and music critics at least make SOME kind of attempt to be credible? Well IGN just says "You know, f*ck all that, let's just make stupid rants any fanboy on a sugar high can make and call them reviews, AND get paid for it". Of course this can be said for every video game reviewing site, but IGN really define it.

Their reviews always look like they took less than 2 minutes to write, someone is getting paid for this. That's goddamn depressing.

They review other things too, and they're even worse at that. When they review DVDs all they say about the movie or show is "it's good" or "it's bad" without going into any detail about it or making any effort at all to explain that point of view, instead it's a short paragraph of sh*t anyone could write up on the fly "this show is soooooooooooooo good/it's sooooooooooooooo bad" and then everything else focuse's on all the technical details of the DVD.

I guess their excuse is that they're giving consumer advice and not attempting a serious subjective review. But then again saying "this movie is bad" and not explaining why is not good consumer advice. If you're only reviewing the DVD, then don't express your f*cking about about the movie or show if you don't care to be insightful about it. Because when you have so many reviews where you state something is terrible and then give the DVD of it a 7, it makes you sound like an inconsistant hack of a writer.

IGN. YOU FAIL! Just admit you're not a site for gamers, you're a site for tech nerd kids who just happen to play video games without actually appreciating them.

Seriously. You guys couldn't find anyone who actually experienced that era? You had to get a 10 year old to review it?

Lession #1. If you're a video game critic for a "serious" video game reviewing site, then please for the love of god actually know a thing or two about video games, if your job is to educate us, then actually know your f*cking history, instead of smugly writing sh*t off like the usual gamer idiot with no understanding or appreciation for where video games came from.

When you review a bunch of old Atari games, you should review them in the context of their era instead of bullsh*tting me about how they stack up against modern games because anybody who actually gives a sh*t about "today's standards" wouldn't think about buying a collection of 30 year old games in the first place. And you would know that if you were not such a f*cking idiot.

Just stick to reviewing newer games IGN, sure you fail at that too but your lack of professionalism is never more hilariously obvious than when you try to review anything before 2005.

You're so goddamn pathetic, if you actually had a life of your own you wouldn't be stalking me all the f*cking time just to tell me the same things over and over.

Yes I get it, you have a life, I don't, for whatever reason you feel compelled to tell me that every 10 minutes which leads me to believe you have no life at all. And do you think you're being clever here?

Well here's some advice, try to be a little creative because it dosen't help your cause when I already knew word for word what you were gonna say before I even clicked the link to this damn thread. Seriously I'm not kidding, I'm dead f*cking serious. I knew EXACTLY what you were gonna say, every word, I wasn't off by even one f*cking word, not even ONE.

EVERY F*CKING WORD!

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 09-23-2009 03:51 AM

dude you make a thread, i hit new posts, all the new posts on the forum come up... i dont see where stalking is involved

but seriously, you are just too ridiculous
im going to block your posts, i wont bother you anymore

boo boo 09-23-2009 03:51 AM

Not one f*cking word. Not even one.

...

Wait what? Ok that was unexpected.

The Escapist is a great site, whenever I visit I find something interesting to read. I think it's the best video game writing I've happened accross on the web. Generally because they focus on things other than reviews or news, and more on feature articles - much more interesting for someone who rarely buys games.

I didn't really like the site, but I never felt like I was reading fanboy rants.

My favorite game related site is ScrewAttack.com. It's more of a humor site but Stuttering Craig makes some excellent recommendations for older, less popular games and the sites news coverage is always entertaining to watch.

The Game Heroes is also pretty cool, it's current layout sucks ass but that's because it's still in it's primitive beta stage, it was started by former SA member Handsome Tom and it shows a lot of promise.

Anyway. These are also some great independent retrogaming sites.

Racketboy.com

This site has a lot of great info concerning all the older video game consoles, with tons of great game recommendations to boot.

Sega-16.com

By far the best Sega Genesis fansite I have come across so far. With reviews for just about every game to ever come out on the console.

Hardcore Gaming 101

Tons of info on the most obscure and unusual games worth checking out.

Gamespot is winning (losing), hooray.

I could rant about their ridiculous anti Nintendo/pro Xbox bias, but that's too easy. Though I will say giving GTAIV a perfect 10 and Twilight Princess an 8.8 is total f*cking bullsh*t.

What makes my piss boil is how their reviews are easly bought. I can't count all the times they have given great games lame ratings while handing out 9s and 10s to games they KNEW were mediocre simply because they were paid to do it.

What a bunch of tools.

Being a former gamer nerd i use to frequent IGN and Gamespot all the time and neither sucked. Times must have changed i guess....

I really wish i could get back into gaming again, but i don't have the same mentality capable of doing so anymore.
