Arya Stark 10-12-2009 08:47 AM

When I thought Old School cartoons, I thought the ones I watched as a child. Or the ones my dad showed me.

Not the adult cartoons.

FETCHER. 10-12-2009 08:51 AM

i did watch them as a kid :O

back when Disney still had it going on with their 90's revival, before Pixar...

FETCHER. 10-12-2009 09:14 AM

thats it! legend :D. aww that was well good, esp the one in which they get all the treasure :D. its threads like these that make me want to be a kid again. :(

Arya Stark 10-12-2009 09:14 AM

Ah, we're still kids, no worries.

storymilo 10-12-2009 09:39 AM

Other people remember Inspector Gadget right?

I used to watch this all the time

Terrible Lizard 10-12-2009 03:18 PM

H Barbera tried to revive old shows in the 90's and early 2000's and this was one of the results.

Molecules 10-12-2009 03:22 PM

has Hanna Barbera ever done anything that wasn't shoddily animated tripe, if we're really honest? They made a pig's ear of the classic WB franchises when they got hold of them, they introduced canned laughter into (unfunny) cartoons... Terrible. Cartoons on the cheap

The cartoons with the simplest drawings are always the best. Usually they try to hide the phoniness of the cartoons with some exaggerated effects. In these they just focus on the good stuff.

storymilo 10-13-2009 05:57 PM

Alright seriously, no one commented on Inspector Gadget? Did no one watch that show but me?

i was never into ones that simple, well none that simple were about when i was a tot :p:
i cant even think of one which is much simpler than funny bones :D
that was awesome though.

edit: and yeah story i can kind of remember watching the one where the car can go up into the air, but wheels still firmly on the ground.. or am i watching somethin else. never watched much of it though :(.

NumberNineDream 10-13-2009 06:25 PM

^I can't remember either an old cartoon with this kind of simple drawings.

I did watch it daily, but just got over it after the epic fail of the Inspector Gadget movie with Mathew Broderick.

storymilo 10-13-2009 06:27 PM

^ Unfortunately most things with Matthew Broderick fail epically.

And yeah Kayleigh that's the one. I used to love that show.

I'd rather have him than French Stewart.

Sodacake 10-14-2009 09:45 AM

Rocko's Modern Life was the best show ever.

Also does anyone here remember Double Dragon? I remember it being really awesome when I was a kid and I almost don't want to watch it now for fear I'll hate it and it'll ruin the memories.

i'm 23 :( everybody likes Stopit and Tidyup, the way all the characters are named after stuff your parents would shout at you, Gotobed etc.
I am guessing from your posts that your are a bit of a raver Kayleigh? In my experience ravers love cartoons, it's all the bright colours and silly noises :p:

Molecules 10-14-2009 12:16 PM

just so i dont get accused of going off topic, how about these environmentally conscious classics.. widget was f*cking WEIRD

TheNiceGuy 07-01-2011 04:02 AM

Gundam Wing, Robotech, Zoids, Transformers... yep the big robots were the big thing for me as a kid!

djchameleon 07-01-2011 04:08 AM

Gundam Wing was awesome

I vaguely remember Zoids

Howard the Duck 07-01-2011 11:15 PM

i'm into late 60s/70s stuff if you're talking "old school":-

The Mighty Heroes
Super Six
The Herculoids
Space Ghost
The Blue Falcon & Dynomutt
Hong Kong Phooey
Captain Caveman

Mrd00d 07-01-2011 11:22 PM

Hong Kong Fooey was excellent!

Space Ghost is very good.

Birdman and Blue Falcon were pretty good.

Scooby Doo is right up there for me..

Blarobbarg 07-02-2011 10:02 AM

As a kid I watched a ridiculous amount of cartoons. But my favorites were (are) probably...

Pokemon
Looney Tunes
Tom & Jerry
Scooby Doo
Dexter's Laboratory
Dragon Ball Z

These... are my childhood in a nutshell. Along with Power Rangers and Sesame Street.

And yes, I still watch them when I see them on... but they've remade four of those six shows into horrible negaverse versions of their former selves. Or possibly reanimated them into zombie versions, similar looking, but really only dry husks desperately searching for new meat. Or some other sad analogy.

Anyway, the new ones are crap. The old ones are ROCKIN.

djchameleon 07-02-2011 10:15 AM

I still watch Pokemon every saturday, well I just started when I noticed they have one for Pokemon Black and White.

The new Power Rangers Samurai is really good and reminds of the first two seasons of power rangers so I have started watching that every saturday as well. As a matter of fact, it's on my tv right now.

Insane Guest 07-02-2011 10:10 PM

Zoids, original Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Rocco's Modern Life, Catdog, and Angry Beavers. Oh and Invader Zim if that counts.

Hate the new Pokemon. In my opinion it's sucked since Misty left. :-p

Well it's always sucked, but my Nostalgia Filter puts the old stuff onto a high pedestal.

And I have yet to see the new Power Rangers. Although I've seen the previews and it looks pretty old school.

Awwww yaaaaah

God choices my friend. Very good choices.

Also, Invader Zim is totally rockin'. I have the boxset and me and my bros still pop it on for a marathon every few months or so. :)
