I respectfully disagree. It was a riot in that theatre. That slow motion "nooooooooooo" brought the lulz. But you're right, watching this by yourself would probably suck.

Bulldog 01-19-2011 01:41 PM

Four Lions by an absolute mile.

I haven't enjoyed a cinema-going experience as much as that for a long, long time.

HiFi 01-20-2011 05:28 AM

Definitely Inception, with The Kings Speech a close second but Black Swan isn't out here in the UK yet.

Thom Yorke 01-23-2011 08:34 PM

Inception was one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a while.

Dr.Seussicide 01-23-2011 08:36 PM

I still need to see 127 hours though, I heard it was pretty good.

ThePhanastasio 01-23-2011 08:36 PM

Black Swan.

Definitely even better than I expected, and that was going in with a really high regard for Aronofsky's work.

Howard the Duck 01-23-2011 08:41 PM

True Grit only comes here in February.

They never show any Arofonovsky here so Black Swan I'll have to watch on DVD.

Dr.Tchock 01-26-2011 09:35 AM

The King's Speech. I like feel good, optimistic movies.

Plus Colin Firth's performance is as good as an acting performance can get.

captaincaptain 01-27-2011 06:13 PM

I like Inception. It really shows that not all summer movies have to be dumb, remakes, sequels, prequels, or squeakuels.

True Grit, a western by the Coen Brothers is like a Beatles song being performed by God.

Even though I'm getting sick of Boston based movies, The Town was excellent.

Seltzer 01-28-2011 06:47 AM

I've only seen six of the films up there, but my favourite was most definitely Four Lions and I'm keen to see Machete at some point.

Machete is probably the most fun film I saw last year, and by fun I do of course mean in a dumb, gory, action-packed B-movie way. Definitely worth watching.

Phantom Limb 02-04-2011 08:27 PM

Yay! Black Swan wins!

Paedantic Basterd 02-05-2011 11:09 AM

I'm surprised it did, wasn't it just a horror/thriller movie? (Have not seen it).

Not really horror, more psychological thriller

Howard the Duck 02-05-2011 11:25 AM

Black Swan is kinda overrated but it is quite a good movie.

RVCA 02-05-2011 11:36 AM

I thought it was easily the best movie I saw in 2010, but I also find Inception very overrated

Eh. The previews made it look like it was on par with The Roommate or an M Night Shyamalan film. I'm not convinced to see it.

I went into the theater not having seen any previews and not having heard anything about it. It was really good, and I've seen it in theaters twice now. Definitely would recommend it.

switch the two around and that's how I feel. Inception being the best and black swan being very overrated.

It's actually a mix of A Beautiful Mind, Cronenberg's Spiders and the French movie The Piano Teacher

Violent & Funky 02-06-2011 03:44 PM

How am I still the only person who has voted for The Fighter?

bob. 02-08-2011 11:33 AM

i had not seen it when i voted :)

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-08-2011 11:40 AM

Inception is catching up.

DoctorSoft 02-08-2011 01:36 PM

Mine could possibly be Black Swan over Social Network, I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD and if it holds up on the rewatch, it'll probably be my number one.

I now think The Fighter is the best movie of the year, but I hadn't seen it when I voted.

debaserr 02-15-2011 10:57 AM

Black Swan > The Social Network > Blue Valentine > True Grit > 127 Hours >>> Toy Story 3 > Winter's Bone > Inception > Animal Kingdom > The King's Speech >>> The Fighter > Scott Pilgrim / Kick-Ass / Machete

crash_override 02-15-2011 11:23 AM

Inception, and it's not even close.

I agree. this poll is ridic. Black Swan shouldn't be that close to Inception.

Oh HELL no.

PS Black Swan was way better than Inception.

ThePhanastasio 02-15-2011 04:51 PM

Yeah, I preferred Black Swan to Inception.

Guybrush 02-16-2011 04:52 AM

The question posed by the title and the poll is "Your favourite film for 2010?"

Black Swan is in the cinemas here now. The year is 2011 .. Are we getting it very late or is this in fact a 2010 movie?

Or is the poll idiotic? :p:

djchameleon 02-16-2011 07:13 AM

Black Swan's release date was December 3rd so that's why it's considered part of the poll.

At least state side it was.

That movie was so run of the mill i'm surprised russel crowe wasn't in it or some ****.

Inception definitely for me, i hear it's nowhere as good the 2nd time, but i only saw it once and it was ****ing awesome.

after that, black swan next followed by toy story 3.

deadpoet 02-16-2011 08:31 PM

My favorite was The Social Network, until I saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World. That movie was crazy good. Inception was very enjoyable in the theatre, but when I watched it at home, it didn't seem half as good. Easy A was lovely, and 127 hours was intense (had the best soundtrack of the year). I'm yet to see The King's Speech.

BobLobLaw 02-16-2011 08:52 PM

I didn't really watch a lot of films in 2010, but I chose Black Swan because I thought it was amazing.

BombTheMusicIndustry 02-16-2011 09:12 PM

I chose Toy Story 3. It's actually the only good movie I saw last year.

it's not even released here theatrically yet, maybe after the Oscars and then, heavily censored

Mr November 02-17-2011 10:07 AM

There was a lot of good movies out this year, but The Kings Speach and 127 Hours were the only ones I could remember the story lines of when I did the pole...

RVCA 02-23-2011 12:29 AM

I watched The King's Speech this weekend.

Black Swan > Toy Story 3 > How To Train Your Dragon > Kings Speech > Social Network > True Grit > Inception

those are the ones I've seen that are worth this>that-ing, anyway

ThePhanastasio 02-23-2011 09:13 PM

Of the ones I've seen in the poll, I'd rate 'em:

Black Swan > Inception > How To Train Your Dragon > Scott Pilgrim vs. The World > The Social Network > The King's Speech > Despicable Me > Toy Story 3 > True Grit > Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows > Hot Tub Time Machine > Youth In Revolt > The Expendables
