Idris Elba was on the bookies shortlist as to who would be the 11th Doctor Who before Matt Smith was named.

Gotta love what fanboys will piss and moan over. Never mind the things like Bond running around in clown makeup while carrying a Faberge egg in Octopussy then a few years later setting someone on fire in License to Kill, no his hair color is wrong!

People actually place bets on who the next Doctor will be? That's about as British as you can get without sleeping in the Union Jack and pissing out hot tea. Still it's pretty cool that people were rooting for him to win.

Stand By Me is absolutely great.

The 1990 color remake of the original '68 Night Of The Living Dead is the better one, in all respects except for the acting department, minus Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman, even though the two movies are practically scene-for-scene identical.

The latest Tron movie was the equivalent of waving flashy lights in the eyes of a deaf, dumb, appendageless prisoner who has been in solitary confinement for at least 4 years.
I love this thread

The Godfather Part 2 is possibly even better than Part One in terms of scope and sheer ambition. Rarely have I seen a film use hugely opposing time scales so effectively and add so much more backstory to a previous film.

As for part 3 I cannot comment. I have owned it for 10 years and still not watched it due to the huge amount of negative comments.

Goodfellas crap? Hmmm. It is certainly over rated and suffers from over exposure but there are some superb set pieces and the use of music in the film is second to none.

With every viewing I have found it less enticing but it still has it's fair share of classic moments.

Absolute blasphemy regarding Night Of The Living Dead BTW. I won't even go there.

Coming soon: the damning verdicts regarding:

The Deer Hunter
The Searchers
Scarface (1982)

New Star Wars movies aren't that much worse then the older trilogy.

Spike Lee hasn't made a good movie since 25th hour.

American History X is crap.

Jim Jarmusch should direct everything

All the Godfathers are total crap, except for the interweaving part between the older and younger Don in the second one.

so I'm guessing you didn't like The Inside Man?

I agree with your opinion of the new Star Wars episodes, they aren't as bad as people make them out to be.

Vin Diesel just needs to come out of the closet already

Cliche or not, I thought it was intense, DiCaprio was excellent in that movie.

He was. He's excellent in everything.

Still don't care for the movie too much however.

As promised:

One hour of soap opera followed by one hour of kinetic brilliance and tension; followed by yet another hour of soap opera.

Bloated, lacking focus and Russian Roulette aside; slow and tedious to the point of inertia.

Anyone who has dissed the Godfather trilogy and heralds this instead needs their heads testing.

I don't doubt the sincerity of this film but it is ridiculously over rated.

I will say that Jon Cazale is magnificent in this movie though which does add brownie points.
