Adam Sandler - Funny guy, really?

Punch-Drunk Love and Reign Over Me have displayed that he can handle a serious role. Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore are those kind of generational movies, they were fresh and funny at the time.

I'll give you a comedic actor who's easy to hate but has chosen consistently quality films: Seth Rogen...

I liked his early movies. After that there hasnt really been anything that has been remotley funny to me.

I find Jonah Hill more funny than Adam Sandler. I would categorize Adam Sandler with Jim Carey. They were okay in their day, and focused primarily on "stupid" comedy acts, but have recently released nothing out of the ordinary.

Adam Sandler is hilarious if you're 12 years old. this coming from the super mature 15 year old.

One role that I didn't mind was You Don't Mess With The Zohan, because it had almost ten legitimately funny lines that made me laugh; and that is enough to make me not mind a movie.

I agree with the categorisation with Jim Carey

to be fair, Jim Carrey had a fairly good role in The Truman Show

similarly, Sandler was said to have been good in Punch Drunk Love, but i haven't seen that yet

^ I love The Truman Show. It was different for Carrey, but he played the role really well. He played another serious role but I can't remember the name of the movie. i think it was a horror.

I think The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the film to see that shows Carrey is a more than capable actor.
