This is Westeros. There is no room for excuses. Also, she watched her [edited for spoilers] - she's no longer a child.

He is alive, he was on the Quiet Isle!

Also yeah I'm hoping Howland Reed comes out soon to tell about the Tower of Joy

Just a joke using something similar to their language about being menstrual. Flowering as in "becoming a woman".

I'm basing Stannis from a fantasy book to a show, of course he's going to seem more realistic. I don't think Stannis is unrealistic in the book though. He just seems a lot more angry, besides from cold which makes sense in his position and he is a pretty grey character in the book. I do like Stannis, he seems more like a fool in the show though.

So, just some things I've never really understood.

1. Is Stannis a liege lord of anything? And if not, then who is his liege lord? Or is Dragonstone left to its own devices?

2. Is High Garden and Storm's End in the same kingdom? In other words, was High Garden promoted after
Spoiler for Spoiling a death, book 2:
Renley's death
as Roose Bolton was? But given the conversation that Walder Frey and Roose Bolton have about after the Red Wedding, it seems to me that the liege lord always rules from the same castle, so was Storm's End ever the seat of power in the Stormlands?

Why do you say that, out of curiosity?

Spoiler for duh:

Dragonstone - A Wiki of Ice and Fire
Dragonstone is an Island so I think Stannis is liege lord.

Highgarden is in the Reach, so not the same as in the Stormlands.
Highgarden was promoted because Loras Tyrell teamed up with the Lannisters because of Renly's death (GAY LOVE PLOT SO CUTE HAAA) and because of Margaery being engaged to Joffrey. But I don't think you can really put Roose Bolton in the same category as Highgarden. Roose Bolton will always be known as a pretender to the seat of the North with a murderous bastard son. Did you finish ADWD?

Storm's End iirc was being held by a castellan who was also taking care of Edric Storm, I think but I can't find if Storm's End is the ruling seat, but it was the ancestral seat of House Baratheon who've always been a major house so I imagine that yeah it's the ruling seat of the Stormlands. Hope that helps

I really like some of Stannis's character changes in the show, especially in regards to Shireen. I also just really love Shireen and the Shireen/Davos scenes.

also lmao

That was Courtnay Penrose, SS, and I believe he met his end in Book 2 (which I don't really consider a spoiler since you meet him in order for him to die).

Alright so it seems they're both the ruling houses. I guess the Iron Islands don't count as a Kingdom. A little weird, but whatever. I wonder who rules them (as much as you can). Also, the Wiki i'm reading notes that Dragonstone is actually in Blackwater Bay (never knew that) so I guess it just reports to the king, though would have no other lands to rule over.

Yeah I know his name. W/o checking, pretty sure Melisandre killed him

The only really indepedent-ish kingdom is Dorne.

1. Yes Stannis is the liege lord of Dragonstone. He of course was the brother of former king Robert Baratheon, but is now in open rebellion against kings landing now that it is in the hands of the Lannisters.

2. No High Garden is to south west of King's Landing in a region known as the Reach. It is considered one of the wealthiest regions in Westeros, and home to the regions largest commercial port city, Old Town.

Highgarden was not promoted the same way Roose Bolton was. The Tyrells are one of the most powerful families in Westeros, so Tywin Lannister arranged the marriage between Jofferey and Margaery Tyrell to ensure the Tyrells are on their side of the war.

The Boltons were appointed defacto rulers of the North by Tywin Lannister (King's Landing) when the Stark family had been pretty much crushed and placed in shambles after the red wedding and the demise of Rob Stark
