He's David Johansen, the singer from the New York Dolls. He also had a solo career under the name Buster Poindexter.

That scene was definitely funnier in the theater, I'll give you that. But isn't it during the credits anyway? The movie's over at that point.

I don't think so? Unless we're thinking of different scenes. This is what I'm referring to, it is basically the final scene of the film but doesn't roll over the credits.

Maybe it's just the singing part that I'm thinking of. I'm pretty sure there's something going on during the credits.

Christmas Story...this is the only Christmas movie I have to see at least once each year. The 24 hour marathon of it is priceless.

There are no other Christmas movies even close. I do enjoy Scrooged, but not a mandatory watch. Elf is so funny but again not mandatory to me. Home Alone will probably get a mention

All the sappy poorly done cartoons and stop motion animation movies from 40 and 50 years ago are still good to check out. Even though they are the most over the top campy things you've ever seen. (Rudolph and Frosty and such)

EDIT: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is probably the only other x-mas movie that is close to Christmas Story. I like to see this one too at least once.

EDIT: I'm surprised no has said Miracle on 34th Street, but I guess not many of us were born in the 1940s.

My favorites would have to be Christmas Vacation (it's classic so I end up catching it at least once a year on tv anyways so it might as well be a tradition), Home Alone (me and my friends favorite as kids), The Year Without a Santa Clause (because the Snow and Heat Miser songs are so annoyingly catchy and I like those cheesy stop-motion cartoon films), and Elf (because I like to smile, smilings my favorite). And the Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon is pretty cute too, I guess.

Yep. Sue me. I expected it to be awful but found myself enjoying it. The fight over the action-man figure in the store and the race to find the last one I found really funny. It's not the sort of film I would have expected to be good but I enjoyed it.

Edit: Anyway, the whole point of this thread is you can nominate films that normally you wouldn't rate, or even watch. In the spirit of Christmas, it's not a terrible film. I wouldn't expect to see it on anyone's list of top films, least of all me, but it's fun and gets you in the mood. Arnie does comedy well, sometimes.
(You can decide yourself whether or not that comment is sarcastic)

I know it's officially a Thanksgiving film, but I've always seen it as a Christmas film over in the UK.
