Because he's pretty great.

Man, not visiting the wikis is like rule number one when a book is ahead of a TV series. That's a pretty heavy one too. =\

Anyway nah, the Oscar's aren't my thing, though I know every major event that happened because, y'know, internet.

I feel they have been for sale for a lot of years, I *completely* lost interest in them after The English Patient got the Best Picture award over Fargo in '96. If they get it right once in awhile, I can only make the comparison to a stopped clock being right twice a day.

Never ever seen them. Don't even have a TV at home, which is so invigorating.

I haven't seen that many movies this year and snubbing The Tree of Life last year killed my appreciation for the award shows (among many others), so I'm also not watching the event. However, given that Steve McQueen is one of my favourite directors, I'm very happy that 12 Years a Slave won best picture.

Oscar met Tard? I so need to see this!

Wait, when did they happen?

By you saying that it's like you never watched an Oscars in your life.

They shit on blockbuster films all the time in favor of artsy type films. You will most likely never see a summer blockbuster movie win an Oscar. I think the only one to do it or even get a nomination was Inception. It only most won the technical type of awards anyways.

This year was a great year for the Oscars and Ellen as the host was hilarious. All you cool kids can sod off.

Edit: Forgot to add if you want to see/hear about more independent films then that's what the Sundance Film Festival is for and they have winners from that.

I love The Oscars. It's entertaining. Filmmakers I really admire get credit for their work then they get to go up and speak about it. Last night's especially was just loads of fun! And all the winners were deserved in my mind.

itt: "my favorite movie didn't win best picture therefore i'm gonna boycott the Oscar's as if my opinion matters"

The Oscar's was great this year. Ellen is a wonderful host. The best movie won best picture, and the best acting performances were credited with their respective awards. Everything went how it was supposed to go.
