I don't share the same enthusiasm as some people, but I heard about it on a local news radio program this morning. Something about a selfie, pizza, Ellen, Gravity, 12 something or anothers, and McConaughey did the "Alright, alright, alright" thing.

That'll tide me over 'til next year.

I know that Sundance is for indie movies and a lot of great indie films have won awards there. About summer blockbusters, you're right, they won't ever get Oscar nods. Most films that the Academy nominate each year usually premiere here in at TIFF, which tends not to feature over-hyped movies anyways, every September.

I get that they try to award the more artsy films overall, and I recognize that the purpose of the Oscars is to reward people for their hard work. But I just don't really care about them anymore. I find that most of the media outlets end up talking about things like who was "Best/Worst Dressed", or who someone's date is, anyways. Maybe I'm wrong.

I thought the awards were great this year. Mcconaughey was deserving but his speech had way too much God and cliche in it for me. Twelve years was also deserving. I had no idea Brad Pitt was so involved in the making. I was a lil disapponted that The Act Of Killing didn't win, but that just makes me eager to see the other documentaries.

That's true but even this year was pretty classy and most stars brought their mothers as their dates. It was just love all around. Ellen was a great host. The movies that were nominated were pretty interesting films.

That's another great thing I like about the Oscars is seeing the documentaries that win and even the nominated ones. It shines a light on ones that I may have missed out on.

The speech was heavy on religion and that was kind of lame, but I like that he interjected that classic McConaughey humour and to be completely honest - his piece about chasing yourself and being your own hero really inspired me.
