Oo, my bad, thought you were cracking on the fact that it can only be viewed on a screen.

I agree with you, it isn't an environment I would enjoy that much. I think like Yorke said the atmosphere would be fun, but I'm sure I would get bored after only a couple hours.

My friend and I got together for this year's world championship like people would do for the superbowl and I've sat with a group of players from the gaming club at college and watched some of the regular season games on the projector.

Well I was just offering my opinion on why it doesn't appeal to me. Instead of whining about what I said, maybe you could explain the appeal? Because I seriously don't get it.

It's not really appealing to me either, but then again neither is watching the World Series of Poker or the Super Bowl. I do find it interesting that it exists and that it's catching on the way it is.

And you really think a single impassioned post from an anonymous forum member that you maybe have fringey respect for is going to change your mind?

Why would I waste my time attempting to do that?

Did you see the LoL championship at the end of the vid? it looked awesome! i don't play LoL but i would luv to go to that.

I think it's the same for Sports or eSports, seeing it in a stadium full of geeks cosplaying is the same as going to watch your favorite NFL team and seeing a fan painted in the team's colors.

To echo what plankton said, the communal aspect that makes going to stadiums worth it is not lost just cause it's an eSports game.

If you think about it, most geeks don't enjoy sports and been shunned out of that experience maybe eSports is their way to finally experience something like that.

Not particularly a fan of how you're lumping together all eSports fans as "geeks" who were shunned out of sports.

I love MLB, NBA, and NFL equally as much as professional League of Legends. I've played sports my whole life and am quite good at most of them that I've tried out.

It may not change my mind but I'm still interested in hearing your perspective.

^I told you my perspective, I guess you didn't find that to be a compelling enough reason?

Gaming in America is no longer considered geeky. While the stereotypical gamer nerd is still common, it's not nearly the majority it used to be.

There's nothing you'll get out of me that you'll find particularly interesting or enlightening. Rewind back to like early 2012 when I downloaded this relatively new, popular game League of Legends the first day upon getting my first laptop. I loved the **** out of the game and played an unhealthy amount, I have well over 1,000 hours invested into it. A few months into playing one of my friends who also played tells me how there are professional teams who play in tournaments and how a seasonal league was going to start for the North American teams. I start watching streams of his favorite team which then becomes my favorite team as well and I was absolutely hooked from then on. I've been a devout Team Solomid fan ever since. I love the game, the strategy, the excitement, the variety, the player personalities, the announcers, the organizations, the drama, the presentation...all of it is fantastic, engrossing, and addicting. The weekly anticipation of watching TSM's next match has become a major part of my life and will continue to be for the forseeable future.

It was a generalization, all im trying to say is that unathletic kids who never had sport for them now have one and that's a part of why eSports came to fruition.
