Jazz (2001, Ken Burns)

Some hate it, some love it; opinions of which are mostly based on subjective ideas about who's important in the history of jazz. All would have to concur that's there's no other single doc as comprehensive. It's true the force of the series narrative weakens considerably after the bop era but the first six or seven episodes are stellar. Watching ep. 2, The Gift right now.
