If you go into D3 expecting competitive, you'll be disappointed. It's just not that game. POE is.

I wouldnt say POE is built for competitive, it has a huge casual fanbase (just look at the reddit) and nothing about the game forces you to be competitive to have fun. I also wouldnt say D3 doesnt have any competitive elements, it still has a dedicated hardcore population pushing Greater Rifts to the max every season. I think you speak with a very naive understanding of both games. Complexity is not the end all be all of determining if a game is appropriate for a casual audience.

Also, what a lame ass assertion that because D3 is catered to a casual audience that it automatically wins the award for providing a better casual gaming experience.

I'm speaking from personal experience so I'm not cementing anything as fact. When I played PoE, there certainly was a pressure for competitive. Maybe not in your face but the people playing it were pushing for that. I'm not saying PoE isn't casual, but in my experience it didn't feel casual enough. D3 was just easier to understand from the get go and it didn't try to put too much all at once like PoE has a small tendency to do. This debate is rather silly because I find both games enjoyable. But it really depends on the kind of game you want to play. I don't put D3 and PoE in the same vein all the time because my personal experiences with both games was different enough to form the opinion.

Pressure from who? You have to go out of your way to interact with people as POE is largely a single player online experience.

I'm not debating really. I'm trying to figure out what D3 does better than POE that makes it more appealing for the casual player.

In case you didnt realize, idc what you think about D3 or POE. I care about why you feel the way you do about them. Saying D3 is more fun provides nothing to the conversation.
