Killswitch Engage - Disarm The Descent (2013)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...cent_cover.jpg

What can I say except for the fact that I think this is one of the best releases of this year. I haven't even finished my first listen of it, and I already have a few tracks that I find to be some of their best work. There is no way anybody can replace Howard and his beautiful work he's put into their earlier work, but I don't find this new guy unlistenable, they still have that ass kicking sound that i've come to love. Really fantastic album.

'This new guy' is their original vocalist.

^I was using "this new guy" as a reference to the singer being different than the one from the previous album.

Also, i'd like to make a note to those that read my journals. My reviews probably aren't the most exciting or well thought out, but they are the thoughts that I have about an album or movie, be it they are short. I don't feel like I should write paragraphs upon paragraphs on an album if I can simply say why I like the album and what it means to me. I'm not saying people's long reviews are bad, I just feel personally that if I can say what I want to say in a short paragraph, I prefer to.

Whether soembody write 3 lines or 30 regarding an album review has no real importance. It's your journal for you to do it how you want.

Two albums I have been diggin' a lot:

Darkwater - Calling The Earth To Witness

Darkwater - Where Stories End

If you're looking for some fantastic progressive metal to get your hands on, these guys are a must. Some stellar heavy riffs matched perfectly with the lovely vocals of Henrik Båth:

Very fantastic band who with only two albums, have managed to reach very high on my list of favorite prog metal bands. What more can I say, I really dig it. Check it out for yourselves:

Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal

Yes...yes, I am one of the few people on this forum that actually likes BMTH. I heard they had released some material, and you're damn right that I was excited. Giving it a listen today, there is very few that I don't like, one being that I feel like they've taken a step back to what they are known for, the heavy rif***e, and over the top screaming, this album just feels dumbed down in relation to their previous releases. However, it does have that BMTH sound that I like, be it not the greatest. The first two tracks are almost non-listenable for me, but most of the album is pretty spectacular. First impressions are everything, but i'll definitely give it another shot in a week or so.

Kokomo - post rock:

I want to post some stuff from this band that I recently started listening to. Some fantastic post rock being made.

Albums: If Wolves (left) and Mattlehorn Bob and the Black Fair (right)

I've given both these albums a pretty good listen so far. And it seems that Mattlehorn Bob adds a bit more "scream" to their sound than If Wolves, but it's done in a way that fits. It's not too overwhelming, just every now and then, but the important about the music is the structure of the instruments, as it obviously would be with post rock. Some very fantastic stuff. Will probably post about their other albums as I listen to them.
