My apologies for the long delay. I've given up on the "My Introduction To..." series. I don't have the motivation to do it. I'll continue to do what I do best in here, but that series was good for a little while, after a while I felt it was getting stale and repetitive. Don't worry though, a fresh new batch of entries will be flying through soon.

I heard Rip Off The Wings of A Butterfly in Spencers today, and it made me want to listen to this album, and what a great experience it is. I remember every single song as if I had heard it just yesterday, but I'm thinking it's been at least 5 years. It's refreshing and sounds better now than it did when I was completely obsessed with them years ago. Even the lyrics sounds great, now that I'm really listening to it instead of my teenage mind listening to the music alone. |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Venus_Doom.jpg HIM - Venus Doom Having given Dark Light a bit of a listen, it prompted me to listen to Venus Doom, which is an album I never really got around to listening to fully. I'm sad that I never got to experience this album when I was younger, because it is one fantastic album to say the least. I can tell there's was a huge improvement with the heavy riffs and vocals of Valo. Love In Cold Blood is probably my favorite so far, though I haven't given the full album a listen yet, so that could change. But I can see this as being a repeat listen, probably for a while. |

This album...it blows me away every time I hear it. A mixture of Abba, Ace of Base, and Roxette. You'd think...a power metal band doing covers of pop groups? I know, I thought the same thing, but boy was I impressed with how well it worked. If anything, Tommy Johansson does a fantastic job matching and overpowering the vocals that are well known to most of the songs that are being covered, songs like Money, Money, Money, and The Sign. It's corny in a way obviously, as most power metal is, but I just found it amazing that a band such as this would make a whole album based on pop groups and still be able to add their special characteristics to it. |

I wanted to have an entry in here that is all about the place I live, I feel like it adds a bit of personal connection to my journal, also because I have nothing else to write about at the moment. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Needle002.jpg Anyway, i'm sure people already know, I live in the beautiful city of Seattle. In it's own right, it's one of the best cities that I've seen. I've been to places like Chicago, Washington DC, Monterey, Mechanicsville, but Seattle has a great feel to it, not to mention that feeling of home definitely helps. One of the wonderful things that I feel Seattle is prided for is the music scene. A lot of great opportunities for underground artists has and always has happened here. Even Nirvana had the beautiful opportunity to call it home. Jimi Hendrix is another big name that once called Seattle home. As a city we take pride in the music we bring to the world, especially since we have a memorial for Hendrix. I've seen it, taken pictures with it, it's a beautiful landmark located at Greenwood Memorial Park: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...13667808_n.jpg Me next to part of the memorial Another amazing thing about this city is seeing the skyline at night, especially when you take the ferry home from bainbridge island or any other places across the bay. This picture was taken when me and my girlfriend were coming home from bainbridge island: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...41500858_n.jpg We got on the ferry just as the sun was setting, and we arrived at the perfect time to experience the Seattle skyline at night. To give a bit of an example of what it looks like, Google has some pretty spectacular pictures: http://media.heavy.com/media/2011/03...line-night.jpg I've made a lot of good memories living here, been exposed to a lot of great music, and everything I love about the city continues to expand the longer I live here. Sure, it does rain a lot, but you tend to get used to it. The sunny weather becomes sort of foreign when you call this place your home, but it's a beautiful city and i'm happy to be a part of it. I have no plans of moving away. |
